Factory Sleeved Flatheads

Can anyone tell me why Ford sleeved motors in the factory in 1941? When rebuilding a factory sleeved motor, can you just pull the sleeves and hone that bore and be OK?

I am looking for some 1940 to 1948, rear brake drums. I have the fronts but need rears to run 16" steelies on my 36. I understand 35's will work as well.

So to clarify. I can use a 12 volt coil on a 6 volt system if it is marked "requires external resistor"? Would that be wired like a standard coil, or backwards?

Please help verify an old wives tale told to me by a friend. I was told that you can use a 12 volt coil on a 6 volt system (flathead), if you wire it backwards. Is this true?

The shaft diameter of the pulleys is approximately 5/8 ". The diameter of the shaft on the generator is something bigger.
