Re: Removing '40 rear hub seals

But shucks, it's still good information for those who need to replace inner axle housing seals. :) :)

Re: white steam from breather and water tailpipe

This sounds exactly like the combustion/compression leak that I had last year on my way to Auburn, Indiana, driving my '35 fordor sedan. After dealing with this problem while in Indiana for the EFV-8...

Re: Oil gallery plug

Old Henry put that special plug in there for a good reason, and it just amazes me that most of the knowledgeable folks here on these engines and those who are in business rebuilding these engines...

Re: Relieving 8BA Block

What does JWL say about recieving a Flathead block in his book? Did he run Dyno comparisons? What were the results?

Whoop's, just went back and saw his previous post. Never mind :o

Talking Re: Wide Five Spare Tire Holder

Tim, I recently purchased all the parts and pieces that were removed from a '36 1/2t pu truck, that's being hot rodded and customized, with the intention of reselling the parts that I can't use or...

Re: 1936? Aluminum intake manifold- Vanspeed

KGS, yes, thank you, that's the post I tried to find. Since making this previous post, I have purchased an early '35 intake, and as time permits, I will glass bead all of these intakes and post

Re: 1936? Aluminum intake manifold- Vanspeed

Brian, I did a post here some years back on the differences between various years of early Ford V-8 intake manifolds, but couldn't find it last night. I'll give it another try today, and post the...

Re: 1935-48 Flathead engine mounts.

I would go with the Drake mounts. Drake's rubber products usually seem to work better for me than Carpenter's.

Re: 1936? Aluminum intake manifold- Vanspeed

The intake manifold pictured above is a '35. However, it will work fine on a '36, but will not be show correct.

Re: Of 34 Phaetons - woodticks - n - Brook Trout

David, it's great to see that '34 Phaeton being cared for, and kept just the same as I remember seeing it in Mike Sr's pictures taken when it was in Florida, and then again over a year ago in person...

Re: It is possible for a hub w/o a drum to slide on too far to axle housing?

Tim, last summer we were working on the rear brakes of a '35 touring sedan. When we removed the axle nut and flat washer to remove the left side drum/hub assembly, it came right off with no need for...

Here's a link that I found for the original techno source website:

Once you open the above main file,...

Re: One of those annoying questions...

I'm always challenged by the "no can do" or "that's impossible" statements.... I had a fiber press on camshaft timing gear fail on my '35 fordor Avatar driver about 10 yrs ago. I was on my way to...

Re: One of those annoying questions...

Okay B&S, thank you for your response. This answers the questions on why you weren't having as much fun driving those back roads after installing 3.54 rear gears.

Re: One of those annoying questions...

B&S, I'm wondering which year and model car did you put the 3.54 rear gears into?
Also, which year transmission and what gear combination are you using in the transmission that's in this car?

Re: One of those annoying questions...

I haven't found the above statement, in bold, to be true with the changes I've made as described in my first post on this thread. I've done most every type of driving imaginable, and don't find it...

Re: 4:40.1 Gears in a 39 Sedan?

The 9/40 stamped on the underside of banjo housing does not gaurentee you have 4:40:1 gears inside the housing. They were likely used with the smaller 60hp engine, but could have been changed out for...

Re: One of those annoying questions...

I would suggest keeping your original top load '36 transmission case with serial #'s that match the frame and installing the later '39-'48 gears with better syncro's. This is essentially the same as...

This is exactly what I have done. I've bought, and otherwise aquired a good number of '33 thru '41 used distributors, and completely dismantled all of them for parts. Many of these had new point...

Re: my new clutch slips!

I thought Ford began using a 10" c&pp with the beginning of 59 series engines, but a new 9" c&pp should not be slipping as op is experiencing. Ft. Wayne can do heavier/higher force spings, if/ when...

Re: Where do these rods go? 1936 Fordor

So many of those steady rods were left off or cut off back in the day. Also, when original engines were replaced with the later 8ba engines, there was no provision on the bolt on bell housing to...
