He disconnected the gen wire and it still arced .it looks professionally wired is this some sort of bypass with a Diode hidden somewhere .I see Koates & Bob is right

Go to Manage attachments then right click on your picture a box comes up press edit another full page comes up press resize set it lower ,go back and attach that one ,

A fire wall ground is good but your lights are connected to the fenders so a ground wire from the battery (or close ) to the bulb holder is better , Yes not original .set up a tempey ground and...

The heater tap should be off when not being used ,check that the thermostats have been installed correctly they have a tendency to roll over weld them into a 2" ss pipe with a 1/8 vent hole...

Are you running thermostats ,it sounds like you have a 5/10 deg margin only . with out theromostates it should run about 170 (to cold ).you need another row of tubes ,or a shroud will do it ,My 34...

Thanks all for the comments ,I thought 34 had the extra reveal on the back of the cab or is lhat late 33 ,the truck was restored by the driver in NZ ,he is a very good body man the cab was pulled...

They share the same internals as 32,to at least 36 .so a swape out could be a simple solution .

AS well ,Remove the low tension wires of the solenoid /starter switch then in turn re attache them to see were the current draw is ,Dash or engine side lights ,stop light .pull the fuse on the lights...

The 39 pick up has a extended fan so I doubt whether any stock alternator has the design like stock Ford ones do tapered rollers to handle the stresses ,( I dont know about Vintage garage )
