I think you can take or could have taken it to A Z or almost any parts house & they could have checked it for you, at least they do in this neck of the woods.

Drill it out to clean it up or just use some lacquer thinner or acetone. Fill the hole with J-B Weld & redrill & tap it.:p

Seems like you could cut one out of a piece of heavy duty rubber & glue it in place. Aren't there bolts holding that together? If not I would add a few. From what I can visualize the flat washer...

Not to be a smart azz but you are going to need TONS of base before you get to the brick/pavers. Must say you have it looking very nice. Hell I couldn't even afford your tax bill.
