Those charts are for reference only. You actually have to measure the chambers to determine the CR. In my book I measured a dozen or so heads and they were all over the place. Another consideration...

I would think any cam would run well in a 284 ci engine. But in a stock engine you have to be conservative.

Using a split guid ans early valves in an 8BA engine cam be done. However this lwould lead to more oil seeping into the combustion chamber thru the valve stem. Bad Idea.

Just make sure you don't bend them in,or out. It will screw up the Ackerman angle.

That breather should be mounted on the drivers side near the tp ton the pan. On our stock car I extended the pan under the starter about 6" to collect the oil during the corners, with 1/2" clearance...

There must be a reason for any modification to the engine, or any part of the vehicle. Now why do you want to install a cam with higher lift?? You must have a reason. Maybe there is a different way...
