Re: Fake 'R' code Galaxie?

Mine is in the same spot, gotta scrape some crud off it usually, but that is the acid test and it has to match the vin plate.

I saw the worst R code '64 Ford on eBay. A totally clapped out hulk,...

Re: 1959 ford ranch wagon, clutch kit

I have used one clutch rebuilder since 1975, he can do anything if I strike out anywhere else. He started out doing OEM stuff, now he does a lot of drag racing clutches.

Re: I got a good laugh at AutoZone today.

And people wonder why I order 99.99% of my parts online.

On a Friday night I needed an emergency brake arm clip, the simple C shaped item. Pep Boys... they were mystified. I gave them a bunch of...

Re: Edsel Push Button Transmission

I recall reading old car magazines my dad had, the Tele Touch system was problematic and didn't help the 1958 Styling that went over like a fart in church with many.

Re: 292 rod bolts

How about something like a SCAT rod? Their entry level rods would be more that good for you. If they made them for a 292...

Re: Ryan Preece crashes his New Mustang at 190 mph

I was in a big accident on the street years ago. Among the more serious injuries I had, I was black and blue from my shoulders down to mid calf. I was not able to work full time for 4.5 years.

Re: 1968 Country Squire Stalling Issue: 302 engine

Does the carb have an anti-stall dashpot? I had one go bad on a '64 390, replaced it, problem solved.

Re: Trim pieces supplier questiion

Set up a search on eBay, check it once in a while. This is how I got most of my trim pieces.

Which team? The last competition I was at was in Freeport, in 2013. My uncle used to drive the A truck for Bay Shore.

Re: Where to get a replacement gas cap?

An RG31 may work, this is a non-vented cap. Fits many 1953 to 1963 Fords. I have one on my '59.

Re: Current PPG # for Colonial White Paint

I had trouble finding colonial white at a local paint place, settled on wimbledon white. Good that you found it.

Re: Upper control arm placement question

The last ones I did were on my car, the previous was while fixing cars. I did a '64 Ford around 1979. You need to take pains to keep the shaft and arm centered. I good scribed line does the trick, or...

Re: retractable or non seatbelts?

I have 3-point retractable belts in my car, from Wesco. I bolted in their plates for the top mount in the B pillars.

I had to go with other bolts for the top, the ones that came with the set were...

Re: Upper control arm placement question

I have a '59 and they are centered. The bushings have a coarse thread where they go onto the shaft and a fine thread where they go into the control arm. They are a little tricky to install.

Re: Rewiring a 57 steering column

Can you still read the stripe-codes on the wires? Mine were wiped out with age, so I had to go with color only. Even then it was hit and miss until I identified each one. But there are only like 9 or...

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.

I may put the aerostars back in my car with the 1" spacers recommended here. Another groovy spring project.

Re: Reliability of the LATE V8s

Everyone with a qualified car got 100% reimbursed by Ford. All I had to do was submit my receipts at a local Ford dealer. The lawyer didn't get rich off this one, not even sure she was paid.

Re: Reliability of the LATE V8s

I had a 4.6 with low miles in a '97 Mercury. The intake cracked and I had to spend $1200 to get it fixed. I started a Yahoo support group and lots of people jumped onto it. It got the attention if a...

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.

My car was way too low with the CC850 springs, looked nice but with the 215/75-15 tires they scraped too much. So I took a coil off the OG ones and put them back in. The disc conversion also shoots...

Re: Put front Disc Brakes on my 56 T-Bird

Who sells those? Just looked them up with no results. The caliper with the cross-over tube is intriguing.
