Re: non adjustable valves

I think you have the wrong lifters. If you rotate enough that the lifter is all the way up and you can’t get a wrench on the flats of the lifter, then it’s too short. Look at how much thread there is...

Re: Snyderís Inserted Rod Size?

Have you considered buying new rods from AER? They don't have the thrust on the sides, but are a much stronger rod, balance weight is evenly matched, and shoulder bolts to alignment cap with the...

Re: Interesting read in Hemmings about restoration costs.

Ed, TCP Global have all the paint code and color chips in their library for all the Model A colors. Did you talk to them about it?

Re: I need help to overhaul 7-tooth steering

Consider how much the cost for machine work as opposed to a new shaft with worm gear installed. The bottom end of the shaft wear is usually from contamination and or loss of lubrication. Machining...

Re: Engine Noise

I agree with Brent and I’d go to the drivers side below the water jacket and use a stethoscope. Set your rpm where you hear the noise. Don’t keep driving it thinking the noise will go away.

Re: Blind back for sale on CL

Very nice car. If I were ever to get a 4 door, it would be a blind back. 28's and 29's are my favorite.

Re: Cowl lacing replacement style

That cowl and tank sure look like a 28-29 to me. To the OP, I'm going to patiently wait for the new owner of Roy Nacewicz Enterprises gets back online and hopefully has the correct lacing and fender...

Re: Timing gear/cam noise?

I've done the plunger screw in the cover mod with bronze gear and hardened crank gear. Still cam knock and .010" end play initially had .004" when new. Now after pulling the pan off I find all of...

Re: 7-tooth column leaking post-rebuild

Determine where the leaks are coming from first. You don't want to take something apart when nothing is wrong with it. If it's leaking down front then remove the light switch and look in the area...

Re: 29 tudor front bumper question

I think you have the wrong brackets for your bumpers. Brackets look like they are for 1930-31 cars and pickups.

Re: Oil filter

AER inserts I was told are aluminum bearing surface. Rich also sets up the clearance on rods and mains to .0017. Any tighter and they will seize.

Re: T-5 5 speed trans VS Mitchell overdrive

Why do you need a solid stop for the cam plunger? What material did you use to make it? Why do you need to spray the cam gear with all the oil spraying around in there?

Re: Balancing an engine at home (Newbie)

Does your dampener have the spiral cut groove and if so what are you using for a front seal? I'm done with rope seals. Never had one that didn't leak.

Re: Zenith 2 & Holley

Looking at the revised 2011 a raised H on a Holley would have been Dec 27 to Jan 29.
So it it couldn't be after Jan 29 Taking that into consideration if it has a raised ZENITH 2, then it could have...

Re: Twisted cylinder head

Measuring the piston protrusion and clearance, the depth of cut in the head for clearance will have to wait for awhile as I am having back problems right now.

I thought the twisted and or warped cylinder head problem was taken care of. Now I,m going to have to pay returning it and probably end up replaced with one that is worse than than the one I have on...

Re: Shop lighting

My old fluro above my work bench gave up on me recently so I bought an LED to replace it. The LED takes about 25% more space but I can't say it puts out anymore light than the fluro did when it was...

Re: The Terry Burtz 5 main bearing engine blocks are back on track.

"He is not making a complete engine. Block, crank, and rods."

Who's engine are you referring to? This thread has turned away from the original title.

The Terry Burtz engine will have a...
