Re: The Unofficial Vender List

Don't forget the kiwis...flatheadted for brake floater kits, improved 32-34 steering boxes and possibly other 'kiwi enhanced' products.

Re: Fenton 2x2 intake. Good, bad, or ugly?

I 'googled' Jack Henry - very interesting, early flathead speed equipment pioneer. I'd guess that the manifold of his I attached earlier, was the inspiration for others, such as the Eddie Meyer...

Re: Clylinder head clearance

You've certainly got clearance...What head gaskets are you using to have .07"? generally, compressed gasket thickness is around .045". I generally aim for around .040-.050 over the pistons when...

Re: Fenton 2x2 intake. Good, bad, or ugly?

I dunno what it is; just a picture I downloaded some time back off of the 'net. Doubt if it's single plane; I actually thought it mimicked the 34-35 'camel back' dual plane manifold, but by putting...

Re: Fenton 2x2 intake. Good, bad, or ugly?

I run a Fenton on a 21 stud, pumps in heads engine....having pumps in the heads makes fitting an offset generator somewhat difficult. You need to get creative. However, Zigster, with his C69A engine,...

Re: Head gaskets

The vee notch faces front. Best brand gaskets are the best, however, with aluminum heads such as yours, you'd be better off using their graphtite style, which are made for that very application....

Re: German Flathead Ford V8 Engine

Mercman, that last photo is of a french flathead; note the 8BA style heads. The Frenchies also had the rear mount distributor, as did the 'big block' 337.

Re: German Flathead Ford V8 Engine

The distributor is driven by a splined shaft that engages into a female spline that extends up from, and is part of the oil pump drive gear.

Re: Flathead repair

One more possibility is that the heat riser in the inlet manifold has blown; as it heats up, more and more exhaust dilutes the incoming charge. I have experienced this exact problem, took me months...

Re: New transmission locks up. Only spins free in neutral. Thoughts?

Yes, somewhere in synchro hub, end of input shaft, or front of mainshaft, you have a problem. If you loosen the front bearing retainer, can you get true neutral?

Re: New transmission locks up. Only spins free in one spot. Thoughts?

OK, so, in neutral, if you hold the tail end of the mainshaft to prevent it spinning, can you freely turn the input shaft?

Re: Help: Reverse eye leaf spring problem 34 Ford

Looks to me as though they have cut the ends off and welded new ends on. Looks like a weld just inboard of the eyes in all your photos. Totally wrong!!
