Re: Hinge pins

I have read many comments regarding difficult to remove hinge pins. Sorry for all your trouble but I have the opposite problem. The pins in my roadster door loosen all by themselves and every month...

Re: Photo of 1931 4-Door With Blackwall Tires

I agree with Brian. The '30 and '31 roadsters seem to look better with whites but not the '28 & 29's. Probably has to do with the wheel size. The color of the car also comes into play. I think...

Re: Seat belts - to be or not to be?

In today's society, this is a very good point. Many of us are older and likely to die before we sell our cars. I believe a widow, children or whomever inherits our cars would be held liable in case...

Re: Seat belts - to be or not to be?

I put retractable shoulder/lap belts in our '31 A roadster, '31 Chrysler sedan, and '36 Auburn replica and have documented these installations on this forum. Lap belts only provide a fulcrum for the...

Re: Stroke

My wife doesn't read the Forum but when I told her you were back, she wondered why I had stopped mentioning you to her for the last month or so. She laughs whenever I say to her, "listen to what the...

Re: OK! Let's get personal!

I'm a few months shy of 80 and I can see where this is going. From the responses, it looks like our hobby is dominated by guys over 70. The market will be flooded with Model A's during the next ten...

Re: Battery

Same thing happened to me just this week. Parked my roadster in the garage, flipped the ground disconnect switch off and next morning car wouldn't crank or take a charge. Put charger on it a few...

Re: Huge Barn Find

Gets me angry to see something like this. I see many negative comments from Barners regarding guys who hot rod their A's but little criticism when some old guy does this. Obviously, the barn roof...

Re: Restored cars

What gets me is the guys with their "restored" cars with paint jobs far superior to what Henry ever produced.

Re: Fan Blade advice.

Both steel. One on a Model A and another steel 4 blade on our '31 Chrysler. When the A blade cracked, all suppliers I contacted to get a 2-blade alum fan were out of stock so I opted for plastic...

Re: Fan Blade advice.

If you're not going for judging points, use a plastic fan. I've had two metal blades crack.

Re: More Model A security

Keith,

Those appear to be Rottweilers. Having done some research on various breeds before settling on the one we have, I discovered there are several breeding lines of Rotties. Some lines...

Re: Gas valve on position

I go by what I read on the forum a few years ago. If the handle is vertical, you are like a rocket set for takeoff. Horizontal and you will have no ignition to your rocket.

Re: Talk about messing up what might have been a nice Model A

I think it looks great! So what if it's not original. Too many over restored Model A's around, some with paint jobs better than Henry could ever have produced and their owners think they are...

Re: Another rare eBay find!

I'm sure that snap-on top will stay on at 50 mph and when it stays on, the loose areas won't flap and mar that beautiful paint job.

Re: Seat belt mounting

Agree, no way a wood Tudor pillar could support a shoulder belt installation. I have installed a 3 point retractable/detachable shoulder belt in a '31 Chrysler sedan by fastening it to the frame...

Re: Different take on seat belts

Google "Put 3 point seat belts in roadster ford barn". I think the setup should be the same with a coupe. When you Google the above, the next site you will see on line is one I posted showing how 3...

Re: Different take on seat belts

For those who think seat belts in an A are useless, try this. Sit in the front passenger seat with someone else driving. The driver is told beforehand to slam on the brakes unexpectedly at only...
