Re: Gas cap vent hole

The vent holes are in the lip of the cap. I can see the vents in your picture, look closely and you will see them also..

Here is a picture of my cap showing the vent holes...

Re: Stuck side cover for timing gear

You said you removed all the bolts........be sure to remove the one that comes from underneath through the oil pan lip.

I used a deadblow hammer to gently loosen the cover...

Re: Removed engine; some improvements?

I think he may mean the pads between the original rear motor mounts and the frame.

I would carefully check the condition of the front crankshaft...

Here is a picture of the hole, seen from the timing gear side, taken when my engine was being rebuilt.

Re: Early Model Radiator and Gas Caps

Here are a couple of gas cap pictures. The first is of an early 1928 cap, the second is the later version, 1928-1929.

The Judging Standards has drawings on page 15-8 Revised 2016.

The early...

Re: Trailering tips for protection

We wrapped the glass areas with Stretch Wrap that is used for shipping..U-haul sells it around here.

We also had a neighbor who was good enough to lend us the mud flaps that slip over the hitch.

Re: 1929 Hood Latches won't reach

Here is a pic of my pickup....it isn't pretty but it looks like someone long ago just cut the lacing so the hinge would sit down into the depression...at least I don't see a wire and I'm pretty sure...

Re: 1929 Hood Latches won't reach

Here is a picture of my 29 pickup latch

The hook of the latch just slips over the hood latch clip.

I think if the hood were up just a little it would be difficult to latch.

I usually extend...

Re: Removing rear spring

The first picture is when I was putting it back together...you don't need it very high, I used a couple fairly tall jack stands. The bed is off because I also replaced the rear cross member..

You...

Re: Can the TDC pin be off by 90 Degrees?

Can you post a picture of your timing cover?

There are Model A covers and Model B covers. The timing hole is in a different location on the B cover. It's not 90 but it makes a big difference.

Re: Parking brake interchangeable?

You will need a different tower, as mentioned.

These two pictures show the side mount brake lever and the front mount. Same transmission, different towers...both on a '29.

Re: ignition switch wiring

It's simply an on-off switch so makes no difference.

Be careful the screws in the back don't contact the gas tank and short out.

I added electrical tape to the tank surface. I added liquid tape...

Re: New clutch - should the throw out bearing disengage?

You can adjust pedal freeplay by screwing the clutch pedal adjusting yoke in or out of the trunion.

Look at page 1-69 in Les Andrews' book.
