I bought my 56 f100 column at a salvage yard for $150. I used the pitman arm and drag link. Went to NPD and bought a seal, gasket and 2 brass bushings $15.00. Put it in my 29 AA, much easier to steer.

Might try a pneumatic die grinder with a 2" cup shaped wire brush then something like purple cleaner, pressure wash, blow dry with compressed air.

When I restored my 29 AA, I sandblasted the regulators and studied them, and decided they were not intended to roll, by not rolling they may do a better job of not letting the window drop down.

Yes, some tapped holes do enter the water jacket, I coat them with hard setting Permatex and a small amount in the threaded hole.
