Re: Steering
RHD 2 tooth steering boxes are not very common here but I have one in each of 3 of my 4 Model As and I agree they are better than the 7 tooth ones. I've never been tempted to use roller bearings on...

Re: Deep knocking sound
I'm with Marshall. I think your middle main bearing is lose. You will probably be able to adjust it with the engine in the car.
At what speed do you drive on the open road?

Re: Steering
Marshall, That shows what lengths some people will go to just to win a piece of silver. When I assembled the 7 tooth steering box in my 1928 Tudor, there was NO PLAY in it at all, in fact, it was...

Re: Wire wheel balancing
I've never used the beads but wondered about doing that to get them in. Makes perfect sense to me.

Re: Wind Wing installation
I've given up on glass wind wings on my Phaeton after too many failures. When on long tours, I like them so I thought about it and came up with another solution that works OK for me. I use a piece of...

Re: Finding a nice Model A
I have a 1928 Tudor which I was told was painted Niagara Blue, Dark. I've since begun to wonder whether it is actually Andalusite Blue because it exactly fit the description you give. I have had no...

Re: Steering
I agree with both Marshal and Neil. All I would add requires the steering column out of the car and dismantled. The 2 tooth steering boxes have an additional adjustment - the engagement between the...

Re: Wire wheel balancing
Getting a buckled wheel to run true is not so easy but can be done. It takes careful shrinking of the appropriate spokes and maybe stretch others. It takes experience to get it right. I'm sure there...

Re: Model B engine advantages?
bdave, If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't go either A or B block. For near enough the same money, I would buy a new Burtz engine. With either A or B, by the time you crack test everything, rebore,...

Re: Identify this front main crank seal
I have engines with both types of seal (not in the same engine!!!:)). IMO, it is difficult to choose between them. Which seal I use depends more on the condition of the pulley flange. To use the...

Re: Ran great yesterday
Rust on the upper distributor shaft is VERY common in a Model A. It is caused by condensation in the engine and short running.
I suggest a new shaft after inspecting to make sure no damage was done...

Re: Cash Value/Sale History of Red Grow's "Betsy"?
That makes sense. Evidently, this car is somehow special. I've never heard of it but I wonder how would fair market value be appraised? Not easily, I expect. I also expect the Government wouldn't get...

Re: Tire Balancing Beads Video.
Yikes! 50 mph on such a crappy tyre AND driving with his phone in his hand. That guy is CRAZY!

Re: LED headlight bulbs
I hate even modern cars with LED lights. They glare and dazzle oncoming drivers and even those in front. If you have ever been annoyed by the headlights of the car behind you shining in your eyes off...

Re: Value of an Un-Restored Model A Engine
None of us get to chose where we ae born. Few are the people who move to another country later in life and sure, I could change but I'm not. The cost of freight from such an expensive country as the...
