Re: One Fast Flathead

Re: One Fast Flathead
The next size up blower would help greatly.
Dry sump.
Bigger fuel.

Re: One Fast Flathead
And after all that he is still leaving a LOT of power on the table.
If he were to pursue it, who would he race? He is in no man's land. Too fast for vintage and too slow for NHRA.

Re: Cleaning out my cams
Yup. We had a Super Torque 2 in our home made 4 cylinder Chev in our midget.
Excellent grind. Very high lift velocity.

Re: Donovan 4 Cylinder
Many years ago I had a friend that was a professional student.
He had inherited money when in high school and did not have to work after he finished 6 years of college in electrical engineering. He...

Re: Synchronized Transmission
The Mitchell is the easiest way to meet your parameters.
In case you decide to modify, consider a Lenco. You can use the clutch to shift but it is not necessary. Only needed to start and stop....

Re: Valve Tool
I can understand having one of those bars in a wall collection as I have one whole wall in the shop covered with antique tools, but doing a flathead Ford valve job with one, I could never understand....

Re: Potvin cams
It is an early cast core.
It is a roller grind because it has inverted flanks.
It is NOT a radius lifter grind because of the shape of the toe.
It does NOT have enough lift to be a serious race...

Re: Cadillac 331 in a Ford
A pair of scissors, some cardboard, a hack saw, a drill motor, some 1/4 inch plate and you can have some mounts far superior to what you can buy.
I did one in "55" with a modified 37 LaSalle...

Re: Street Cam
As a side note, if you get in a street drag race and lose, you can tell the other guy truthfully that you are at a disadvantage because you have your Bonneville gears in.

Re: Street Cam
If you ONLY drive the freeways, keep the 3.08's and go with the L100. Mediocre gas mileage though.
If you keep the 3.08's, I can't recommend anything that you will enjoy.

Re: Donovan 4 Cylinder
The Burtz has 2 intake ports like stock.
The Donavan has 4 of better flow design. It is like adding 4 more cylinders if you develop them.
