Re: Machine later gears for 1934 axle

Thank you everyone for the help, especially Deuce Lover who phoned from France to help me.
I currently only have 4.11 gears. I can find later Ford 3.78 easily vs the cost of a new set of 3.54.

Machine later gears for 1934 axle

I would like to go to a 3.78 or 3.54 to replace the 4.11 in my 1934 axle. I have to shorten my driveshaft so that is not a concern (going in a 32). Is the machine work on a set of 1940 3.78 worth...

Re: 1934 vs 1935 ring and pinion

It didn’t turn out well. We figured out that the ring gear is later and the pinion was a 1934. Looks like I need to find another set of 1935 to 36 or buy a new set. It appears someone was trying...

Re: 1934 vs 1935 ring and pinion

Thank you, so if I compare a stock pinion 1934 shaft to what I have, if it is a 1935 it will be longer on the portion that goes into the driveshaft?
Thanks

1934 vs 1935 ring and pinion

How can I identify a 1934 ring and pinion vs a 1935 set? Took apart my axle (1934) and it has 3.78 gears with aftermarket bearings. I want confirm which set I have before I order bearings?

Re: Late 1932 Driveshaft Length

Maybe I am looking at this the wrong way? Total length- length to center of pin = length from transmission end to center of pin. My understanding is that all of the driveshafts are the same at the...

Re: Building a late 32 driveshaft

Mart, that sounds really good. Is there machine work required to use the 6 to 10 adapter?

How weak are the early rearends? I will have around 180 hp.

Thanks

Thank you, can the early 32 driveshaft be cut to fit the late rearend. I was hoping what Jim suggested would work. Any issues running a later solid driveshaft without the bearing?
Thanks
