Re: Shop lighting

I bought inexpensive 4’ LED’s from Amazon, I think it was 4 sets of 2 LEDs per package. IIRC it was about $60 or so to the door. These had grounded plugs on the ends, which was fine as that was how...

Re: How much grease in the clamshell?

I contacted Mitchell today, sorry for the delay in doing so. Anyway, they do not have a precise answer on this. Here is their reply:
That is a very good question. Not one with a firm answer sorry...

Speedo is “jumpy”

A week ago I had the dash out due to a popout switch issue. This means I disconnected the speedometer. We drove the car on Sunday and the speedometer was jumping up and down a range of 10+ MPH from...

Re: How much grease in the clamshell?

Richard, I pumped quite a bit in it on Saturday before thinking—hey, where is all this going and could that be a potential problem? I decided to stop pumping grease in and ask the question. I think...

Re: How much grease in the clamshell?

wmws, good question, that would be relevant for me too! I hadn’t considered that and Richard should know because he helped me put the Mitchell in my car.

How much grease in the clamshell?

Lubing the chassis, the clamshell is the concern. Everything else grease squeezes out somewhere when full. I think the clamshell does the same, but something tell me it squeezes into the...

Re: Dead Short - how do I find it?

Testing revealed there was some internal grounding on the popout switch to the red wire. I installed my spare popout, tested it all again, put it back together, tested again to be sure, and fixed. ...

Re: Dead Short - how do I find it?

UPDATE: I didn’t think it was possible, but the master cutoff switch is allowing a tiny bit of voltage through. 0.01-0.03 volts. I have the same type cutoff that they put on the back of race cars,...

Re: Dead Short - how do I find it?

The cutoff is between the battery and starter. The ignition is a pop out, but as I stated, the car shuts off when the popout is pushed in and it won’t start in the off position either.

I am...

Dead Short - how do I find it?

Looks like the Woody has a dead short. I do have a cutoff switch, but I must have something amiss with that too or something. With the master cutoff in the off position and the ignition off, the...

Re: Mitchell Overdrive Technique

Our Mitchell OD shifts very smoothly and easily both in and out of OD. I would check the linkage adjustment as previously suggested. Also, is your clutch fully disengaging/pedal adjusted properly?

Re: Removing rust by electrolis...Problem...

I just used regular steel—a piece of rebar, and it works well. It does take a while though, did you give it overnight to see if there were results? If no result I would change to a piece of scrap...

Re: What strange comments or questions have you heard about your Model A

I went to the grocery store a few years back in the Woody. Just as I got out and started in towards to store, a girl of about 25 was walking out and said “Wow, neat car. Where did you get it?” ...

Re: I got the LAST Goodyear Tire!

I would guess they produce tires in batches. First in batch, last in batch. Neither one may be the “preferred” tire!

Re: I got the LAST Goodyear Tire!

@31Cabrio & Chuck - I will try to post some hubcap pics tomorrow. I am in need of good ones. They are threaded.
@TerryO - I think I would rather have the first one than the last one! Funny that...

Re: I got the LAST Goodyear Tire!
