Re: distributor swap out question
Drill presses used as "presses" do a wonderful job of preventing cam-out. You need a drill press vise to hold the distributor body/shaft.

Re: Brakes
Probably not hub out of round but certainly something is "stuck."
The "eccentric" of the rear wheel brake shaft is likely stuck and prevents any "equalization" between shoes. This is a common...

Matched clam shells and rear bearing retainers are readily available. As in less than $25 for the set of three.

Re: Upper Front floorboard reinforcements?
This is where "sectioning" an original board might come in handy - and some investigations with the "high-end" router bit producers.
Popular among the colonial furniture reproducers are...

Re: Timing gears
I'm not sure the original was macerated. More likely laminated. I would never go below this in a gear but there have been a lot of gears come and gone over the years and I expect macerated was...

AKA, the "Poor Man's Lincoln."
Which - if you're in that market - you don't bother with the low end "loss leaders."
Which besides the ongoing depression, explains.

Re: model A airplane carburetor?
The manifold "hot spot" seems to agree with the Model A dimension (slightly higher than the centerline of the exhaust ports) but I'm not sure a Model A exhaust manifold would be the manifold of...

Re: Model B engine in an A
The Model B engine benefits from the stronger bottom end. But its challenged by a weaker upper end (cracks)
Most if not all of the horsepower difference between the two engines is in the...

Re: Cheap Gas
I remember 26 cents per gallon from about 1964. And riding with a gallon can placed in the mousetrap rack behind the seat of my bicycle.
I imagine today a cop would pull you over for that.

Re: Timing gear cover
Or leave the threaded hole with a threaded "plug" - so the next generation can query their board "does anyone know why this threaded plug was used at this location?"

Re: Timing gear cover
It would be cast iron.
Welding/Brazing might make an issue with "warpage."
You might "flatten" it after the fact with sandpaper glued to a tablesaw table.
JB weld might be a better fix...

Re: Narrow bed or wide bed
Model A truck beds have a tendency to show up converted to "trailers" - frequently using the Model A front axle (with two springs) underneath.
I think a trifle small for trailer use - but I can...

The swap over from "dovetailed" board (so called Linderman Construction) to plywood was done more or less with the transfer to the 30-31 Models.

Re: Narrow bed or wide bed
The narrow bed is almost "unusable" as a means to carry anything. Maybe pieces of wood not to exceed 6' in length. And the width is narrower than a piece of plywood is wide.
I've carried...
