Re: silicone brake fluid proof brake light switch

I don't think it's the silicone fluid making them fail. I started having those switches fail 40+ years ago before there was silicone fluid. old ones lasted for years, newer ones failed in a year or...

Re: Selling a vehicle and money questions...

^^^^This. It's called "structured transactions" and it's getting quite serious. Used to be that there had to be an underlying illegal activity for the law to apply, now it's a simple arithmetic...

Re: 1936 LB marking

Ebay is a pretty good indication of availability, and I haven't seen squat for 36-38 main bearings for the past half dozen years, except for standard size.

I have 2 pairs of flanged rods...

Re: Finished - Custom 20x10 Super Singles For My 1936 1-1/2 Ton

Very nice job, and looks appropriate to the truck for the average observer. Cool solution!

Where did you get the rims?

Re: Ford ran 2/3 cars at the 1035 Indy 500?

Does anyone know what the waterpump setup is on these? I've never seen a photo that shows one.

Re: Pressure-Sealing Blocks

Does that mean it won't work in your case, because the cylinder is exposed to combustion?
How did you fix your block?

Re: 3D printed Flathead

Tod's been busy installing a new machining center, setting up his own foundry and still making model A parts every day. I think the flathead block is secondary to paying bills but not abandoned.

Re: Dual distributors

There's definitely power to be gained on some engines with dual plugs, but maybe not flathead Fords. Race Harleys have done it since the 70s, I had my first dual plug setup on a shovelhead about 77...

Re: Bearing clearance

So for .002 clearance on floating rod bearings, do you run .002 on the inside of the bearing and also .002 on the outside of the bearing? Or just .002 total difference in dimensions?

Re: 21 Stud block, stud location dimensions?

If you can work with a DXF or Autocad file, PM me your email address and I'll send you some files. I asked here a couple times and no one had the data so I CMMed some 24 and 21 stud head gaskets and...

Re: Flathead Overbore/Size Feedback

I'm going .100 over on a 21 stud '37, just to leave .020-.025 for another bore if it's ever needed. Took me 5 blocks to find a good one.

Is RV P-G antifreeze the same thing or are there other additives for use in cooling systems? I've purchased that at K-mart.

Re: 1935 babbitt block

H&H does or did do the conversion to inserts. I spoke to Mike about it on the phone a few years ago. He uses inserts from a newer engine and turns the crank down to fit. Mike told me the center main...

What advance curve do they have? The page says "The advance rate (and max total advance) is tuned specifically to suit the flathead V8 motor".

Re: Evaporust question...

I love Evaporust but my experience is it won't remove heavy rust scale. It makes a black film on top of the rust barnacles that needs to be brushed off to get it working again. It also won't do much...

Re: Piston to head clearancing

Thanks, that's the sort of info I'm looking for. Do you have any idea what stroke, what rods, what pistons, etc? You know I have to ask, right? :)

Re: Finding .045 Piston Rings 8BA

+1 on file fitting .050 rings. I'd shoot for .012/.013 end gap. Googling file fitting piston rings will get you lots of information on how to do it, it's routine now on performance engines.
