Model a backfire

Problem solved it was the float or the valve in the carburetor, Runs great now. I appreciate every one for the info. Thanks Tony.

The truck has been converted to 12 volt with alternator and ballast resistor wondering if that could cause the backfire.

I appreciate all the responses i am going to try some of them today and tomorrow. I did set the points which were real close and pulled fuel line from carb good flow. There is no wipers just a plug...

Hi i took the carb apart and cleaned it still same thing. I guess the distibutor is next but it has that waffle manifold and a little heat plate so not sure id i can get the distributor

Finally got my ford running after sitting for 13 years it was the coil and resistor. The only problem i have found now is # 1 cylinder is dead no compression i can see the valves moving but one looks...

Thanks for the complement it is a very nice car they just left it sit in a climate controled garage and never ran the car.
