I believe #7 is the fuel bowl vent in the dissection from prior thread. If referring to this diagram, the brass idle mixture screw should go directly in to the venturi. (#7).

Air Balance : Marvel Carb?

Does a Marvel Carb need (or is there a method) to be air balanced for an air filter ? Also, should a drip hole be provided in the air throat bottom ?

They sell a vinyl tack strip by the yard to receive staples, etc. for headliner, windlace, etc.

The "600w" most vendors sell is closer to modern 140 w equivalent, not as thick as original period 600w, which usually slows down the gears. Suggest draining it all completely out and get some 1500...

Found the similar front "squeak" was attenuated by adjusting the front motor mount castle nut at the spring. Also, replaced the flat washer with the special brass washer that fits in the member hole...

Found the JD cornead to liquify/separate with use and heat. Removed it and used 1500w (or Penrite as suggested). Most of the vendors' 600w is essentially modern 140wt. gear lube.

Please ensure the rivets are as tight as possible to the shoe.

Can you hear sloshing inside the coil when it's removed from bracket?
If so, it's oil filled and should be turned 180 deg with terminals up to keep it cool. Need to make a longer lead to distrib.

Be aware that the 6 volt versions may " self excite" differently to maintain the magnetism. Check with the specific vendor for both voltage applications..

If cracking, may want to check SEMproducts for a flexible coating/vinyl renewer. A reminder that the original tops were most often a lacquer coated fabric.

Helps to drain the lube, then pack mating surfaces and bolt with "right stuff"
sealant.
