Re: Exh. manifold to muffler; does anyone make....

My pipe needed a new flange. I took it to a shop and in minutes, the boss pulled a guy off his job, he cut the old flange off and flanged the new end. The metal moved like butter. Really slick. Then...

Re: Hot water heat in a Model A

Your max temp would only be 212 deg max, so that is not a problem. What’s wrong with black heater hose? Probably look better.
On your heater mounting, be sure not to make it hard to work on your...

Just get some high temp silicone and it will seal all your openings.

Re: Clutch problems

Take a good look at the lever on the clutch shaft. Yours may be cracked and not giving you full travel. Those levers break quite often. Our club has been putting on the new, stronger version of it....

Re: chattering sound

If it is a tic tic, it sure sounds like a manifold leak. If the gasket has a reflective side, face it out toward the manifold to reflect the heat away from the engine. Let us know.

Re: Oval speedometer binds in reverse

It's probably your main shaft in the speedo. They bind up over the years and it is very hard to free them up. Try to turn your speedo drive with your fingers. Bet you can't. It is a big deal to...

Re: Starter Issues and smoke?

Don't do anything until you know that the engine will rotate.

Re: Starter Issues and smoke?

Will the engine turn over by any means. If not, put it in third gear and push hard to the rear. Never the front.

Re: Front Crank Seal Replacement Questions

I did this job when my broken pulley chewed up my seals. Leave the oil pan on. Put a jack under it with a board. Remove the gear cover and replace the seal. Replace the seal in the pan and push it...

Re: Starter Bendix

You don’t have to remove the starter to free it up. Just put the car in third gear and push it backwards. Never forward.

Re: Starter Bendix

First, make sure you are not getting on and off the starter while it is turning. You can fool the drive and it may hang up. When you push on the starter button, keep pushing until it starts. If you...

Re: Why can't my generator move?

Your return pipe should be a little more rearward. Move it back a bit and that will give room for your generator to swing out. Then get a belt that is a little longer and don’t run the tension very...

Re: Install disconnect between 1 and 2, or 3 and 4?

If you put it on the ground side, between 1&2, be sure to tape off the cable from the switch to the battery. If that makes ground somehow, you are live again.

Re: Intake Manifold to carb ears

Make sure the mating surfaces are flat. Clean up both with a file. The carb flange moves around a lot and the manifold flange can drift away from flat also. Nothing wrong with paper gaskets.

Re: Fan Movement

The two tapers must match. Big potential danger to your head and radiator and hood. Don’t run that belt tight. A loose belt that still drives everything is what you want

Re: Waterless coolant

The A does not need it. Save your money and grief and fix your system. Stay away from all the band aid fixes. Most of our radiators are plugged to some degree.

Re: Overheating Problems

Terry, how in the world did you find someone who could rod out an A core? Not many around. It would be worth the shipping. Jack

Re: Overheating Problems

To run a good test on your core, drive 45 mph for ten straight minutes. It should be able to do this. I’m sure it can’t. In the long run, you will end up buying a new radiator. Buy it now. Good luck.

Re: Backfiring when clutching

I bet you clutch is shorting out the ignition circuit. If it is a very loud bang, I bet that’s it. Same as turning the key off and on.

Re: The A will not move

Don’t go taking things apart. It’s probably your gears are in the wrong place. Put car in third, move the gears around until you can push it. That will clear the rear end.

Re: Sudden rough running, out of ideas

Retorque your head, but I think it should run good with the 45 in one cyl.

Try this video. Not much to the circuit as the barners point out.
