Re: New products thread??
Boy, I can totally identify with the concept of labor pushing the cost through the roof on small runs!

Re: oil pump
Yes, please try to let us know what you find. I used a "Speedway" oil pump on the last engine I did. Upon initial fire-up, the oil pressure was quite a bit lower than I was used to, so (after some...

Re: 1947 clock not working
Might not be the same, but mine (electric-wind) had two wires going to it. One without a fuse for the light; another with an inline fuse for power.

Re: New products thread??
I am all for this. As most (?) of you know, I am offering my updated "Trash Can" condensers and a 6V tachometer driver. I try to get the information out, but every time I sell one, the buyer asks...

Re: 1947 clock not working
I have an electric-wind clock in my '51 Ford which was not working. I took to a local clock repairman who had fixed my Grandfather clock for me a couple of years previously. He inspected it and found...

Re: Batter Tender
My cars are in northern Minnesota and I go to Florida for the winter. I hate to leave them completely unattended all winter in an unheated building, so I have battery tenders on all of them. I too,...

Re: White wall care
We always used something called "Westley's Bleche White". I just looked and see it's now "Black Magic Bleche White", which it wasn't back in the day. It's probably like a lot of things, a shadow of...

Re: 8BA compression issues
Good luck. I find one of the most gratifying parts of this hobby is the initial start-up of a new (or revived long-slumbering) engine.

Re: Data plate silk screening
The guy that bead blasted my '48 Seagrave Fire Engine damaged the cloisonne' Seagrave emblem on the Grille. I had it restored and theY did a good job but it was over $400.
It was just like this...

Re: 50 Car Steering Idler Arm?
Which car and oil pan combinations wil or will not work seems to be pretty well covered on the part listing on their web site.

Re: Engine Made in the Stand
Now that I think about it, doesn't the Merc plate have a reinforcing bracket with three bolt holes in it that goes to the oil pan? Other than that, are they functionally the same?
I ask because I...

Re: 50 Car Steering Idler Arm?
I looked at the steering upgrade kit on the Shoebox Central sit e and was disappointed to see that there were no reviews. That being said, my '51 has been well maintained since new, and I have never...

Re: 8BA compression issues
I have a '51 Ford with a 255" Mercury and Edmunds heads, which should be as hard, if not harder, to spin over that your engine. An Optima spins it over just fine. Before resorting to a 12 volt jump,...

Re: Gas and ways to seal
Assuming you are referring to a 94 type carb, have you tried replacing the ferrule? They sometimes get damaged. Very rarely, the entire line needs to be replaced.

I would be interested in what intake manifold you are running. Hopefully it's not a "Super".:D

Re: how many cfm for two carb flathead??
You think you were "stupid ass kids"; hell, you were amateurs. I had a friend with a good running 2 barrel 265 in a '55 Bel Aire hardtop. We stumbled across a 6-2 setup and installed it , expecting...

Re: Painting Copper Brake Lines
I'm no metallurgist, but I believe the addition of the nickel to the alloy changes everything. One of the major advantages of NiCopp is it's resistance to corrosion. I don't believe it has much in...
