Re: Rebuilding my generator...

Check if the points are closed or open before turning the key on, if the points are closed the ammeter will show a draw, if the points are open there should be no draw.

Re: Wheel Washers

Be sure and check the axle nut torque after the first few miles and then again and again, to ensure that it stays tight.
I hope you made sure the axle, the shims, and the hub (where the axle fits)...

If one uses dishwasher detergent to clean the cooling system be sure and get the low sudsing type. Don't ask.

Re: Squeaking near front crank pulley

I had a similar "hard to find squeek", it was where the front motor mount sits on the crossmember. Squirt a little oil on that, it's worth a try..

Re: '28 Tudor: Wood blocks

Re: '28 Tudor: Wood blocks

How thick are the body block pads? I'd be tempted to cut them from the sidewalls of an old tire ifn the thickness was correct or close enough.

Re: Phaeton folded down top rests on the spare wheel?

The reason for that is the tops tend to shrink when left down and are hard to reattach when they are put back up.
Perhaps "modern" tops made w/synthetic material don't shrink like the original...

Re: First start

If you buy modern (worn drive) hose clamps be sure to get ones that are all stainless steel. Some are made w/SS band and plated steel on the drive part, they will rust and give problems.
