Re: NOS Cam ID

These NOS 1CM cams were quite common years ago. I bought a bunch from Joblot in NY and they were all coated as you describe and and in boxes stenciled with 1CM. What I discovered later was that...

Re: Motor for British turn signals in body behind the door

Check with Art Knapp in Covina CA. He completed a total restoration of one of the three Jensens several years ago. This car is undoubtedly the best of the breed at this time. His phone number is ...

Re: 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe rear spring shackle bolt installation

You need to get a spring spreader or a porta power with flat wedge ends to stretch out the spring to the correct length to attach the remaining shackles. Quite easy to do with the right tools.......

Re: 1940 Ford Convertible Wire Loom Routing

That is interesting. All the other 1940 Ford body styles (four to be exact) that I have here to examine do not have these brackets with or without holes. The body to frame connections are bolts...

Re: 1940 Ford Convertible Wire Loom Routing

Just to be clear when you say no hole you mean that the bracket with the hole is missing on both sides. Is this assumption correct?

Re: 1940 Ford Convertible Wire Loom Routing

That is a little surprising because avoiding the hole requires the wires to go around the inside of the bracket and will shorten the wire bundle length going back along the frame. I will figure out...

Re: German H-block?

The crankshaft you have most likely uses 2.0 inch early 221 rods. If block started out as 239 it should have 81A size mains and the larger 99A or 29A rods.

Re: German H-block?

Your engine block has a center hole between cylinders two and three that is a shape I have never seen on a USA made block. All USA 221 blocks have a trapezoidal shape hole and all USA 239 blocks...

Re: 1940 Ford Convertible Wire Loom Routing

Mike:

Thanks for your input. It can all be made to fit but when the loom goes through that hole it gets close to the clutch pedal. With this added bracket it is not possible to run the loom...

Re: 1940 Ford Convertible Wire Loom Routing

Mike's photo in posting no. 4 shows the brackets clearly. Now waiting to see how he routed the wires going to dimmer switch and taillights.

Re: 1940 Ford Convertible Wire Loom Routing

Did all the convertible bodies use this bracket with the hole through it? My station wagon and all other models do not.

Re: 1940 Ford Convertible Wire Loom Routing

Mike:
Yes exactly. The left side bracket has a hole for wiring but clutch pedal gets close to the wire bundle. Do you have a photo with wiring all in place?

1940 Ford Convertible Wire Loom Routing

Can someone post a photo showing how Ford intended the original factory wire loom routing at front left body to frame mount. The convertible uses an " L" shaped bracket with hole for wire routing...

Re: best source for parts/rebuild brake cylinder

Mike:
The original MC used back in 1939 and 1940 was more rounded than the one you show in your book. I had an original one resleeved when restoring my truck. I can not believe that NAPA has one...

Re: 1940 Ford convertible body tags

This tag gives an expected body number for the 1940 Ford convertible. It is held on with slotted head screws instead of drive nails and is mounted haphazardly on an angle. My 40 conv has no sign of...

Re: Ron Francis

Does anyone know why the Runtz devices must be used one to a gauge. The Runtz devices are rated at 4 amps each and the Ford King Seeley gauges use about 1/10 amp each.
