Re: The 60-A, B, C Fordor Sedans

I realize I never posted pics. Yes the car is pink (exterior house paint over the original done by the family my grandfather sold it to) but you can see the original paint on the firewall and door...

Re: Noticeable differences between a 1928 - 1929 Fordor Briggs sedan

Also, 28 and 29 interiors are different. You can go over to Classtique's website to see the differences.

Re: Leatherback '28-'29 Group

Being a little vague on purpose, but I'll reveal all soon I hope. Did and 28 features carry over into early 29? I'm looking at a Fordor that has a 29 interior but also rear arm rests.

Thanks

Re: Cylinder head casting marks?

I had a similar head, it is just a stock ratio aftermarket head. The casting marks fall into two categories: Long term mold charecteristics are alphanumeric or a dial indicator with nothing around...

Re: Flush-Mount Doors

Are lap doors a four door thing? My 30 cabriolet has what I consider to be flush doors, just like the 180A and 400A

Re: Float-a-Motor Issue, a Lesson Learned

I was told by a respected individual in the Model A world that the float mounts should only be tightened so that you can just barely twist the top disc with your fingers. Any tighter will hasten the...

Re: The 60-A, B, C Fordor Sedans

Question: I'm newly aware of Fordors, as I have the opportunity to buy my grandfathers (I have drop tops - cabriolet, phaeton, etc.) Is there somewhere that lists the differences between the 60A and...

V8 Pressure Plate Adjustment?

Hi,

I don't seem to be able to come up with the correct search terms to find this.

How do you properly adjust a new V8 pressure plate when installing? My cabriolet has had it since it was...

Re: Rear motor mounts/ clutch adjustment

You should use the stock clutch disk - the V8 clutch disk has slightly different dimensions.

Re: Carb float valve

The float is new, so no divots and not bent, as much as I'm tempted to. I'll check the washer seat area - but I'm hesitant to over tighten as I don't want to strip the cast iron threads.

Re: Carb float valve

I'm not sure that this would solve my problem, as the fuel overflows, so I know something is leaking inside. I would REALLY like to know if you use permatex on the spacing washers or not.

Re: Carb float valve

Ok - I have a new float and new Viton valve. I've disassembled the Valve and cleaned it. It requires very little effort to seal (tested by blowing through it). I'm using the Renners Corner tube to...

Re: My first tow! Starter not cooperative

Take out the space in the error number and it will be obvious.

Re: My first tow! Starter not cooperative

Turns out is was a partial ID 10T error. Removing the starter solved the problem, but my inability to rock it in gear was due to my Mitchel Overdrive cable shifter not being entirely in gear.

My first tow! Starter not cooperative

My starter won't activate. It does a single click when I step on it which sounds like the electric connection, not the starter. Bendix appears to be engaged as rocking doesn't move the car. Car moves...

Re: Potential for manifold warping?

I don't think the exhaust manifold is stock, solely because it has a clamp on to the exhaust pipe. I don't think that is stock.

Re: Potential for manifold warping?

I think I'm missing something. The two leftmost bolts (upper and lower) on the valve cover have a fraction of an inch clearance between their heads and the exhaust manifold. There is no way I can...

Potential for manifold warping?

I am going to install a full flow oil filter on my 30 cabriolet. Engine was rebuilt 1990. What are the odds when I remove the manifolds to access the cover that they will warp when I take them off?...

Re: Information/Opinion wanted on a specific Model A

Yes, It has been very well cared for, the previous owner gave me tons of documentation and records, and it has an Electric kill switch installed for safety.

Evidently my "So I think in the next year or so I might be in the market" turned into a month or so, and I found the Trico Clarion vacuum horns on Ebay too!. Now I have to figure out a safe way to do...

Re: Information/Opinion wanted on a specific Model A

Thanks. I have no expectations of the search being a short process. And am well aware that for almost any car, restoration costs, even minus labor, are rarely recouped.

Re: Information/Opinion wanted on a specific Model A

I figured out the horn is a Trico vacuum horn. First Trico Patent I could find was filed in 1931. I see several possibilities on Ebay, all would need extensive reconditioning/rebuilding.

I realize...
