Re: Transmission, 1955 Victoria

Don't know much about transmissions in general but I remember something about the cruisomatics could crack the center support in the case. Whoever told me said it was from not having reverse band...

Re: Jessi Combs

Sad, used to enjoy watching her on trucks and something else. She would get the work done while the guys messed around.

Re: Risk of using old (over 10 years) tires

Old cars are already on all the environmentalists lists. About the time someone makes a school bus swerve and tip over and they trace it back to old tires gives them more fuel for the fires. I have...

Re: Risk of using old (over 10 years) tires

We all have insurance, this is just another 50 a year over 10 for new tires. With todays texting drivers I would prefer to not have to pull off the road for anything. JMO

Re: Oil cooler for C6 transmission

They are usually rated for the amount of weight your transmission is going to pull. If you go with the stacked plate type they are kind of self regulating. Ford has used this type for years. Bigger...

Re: 50 custom

Some oil in cylinders first, crank by hand. I wouldn't think a little 2 cycle mix in the gas would hurt for extra lube. Started Grandmothers car that had been setting for years inside, was good cared...

Re: A/C in 68 Mustang

I don't believe Ford ever put AC in a car without a fan shroud. Many of the aftermarket fitters of the day would skip that part. Unibody Fords of that age didn't have much room for air to get out of...

Re: Rack & Pinion Steering for 1947 Ford

More rear than front anymore. Taurus, escort etc. Would probably be best if you could stay with original set up and replace or repair. Almost no way to get rid of bump steer with a solid axel unless...

Re: Towing capacity of a 292

I've installed 100's of those hydraulic controlled electric brakes. Worked at a RV dealer till they went out of business when the gas crunch came. Seen at lot of Ricky and Lucy's along with Griswalds...

Re: single wire alternator

Read the Mad electrical page especially the tech page. He talks about the Dodges but Ford and Mercury used same type of gauge set up. They run almost all of the power through the gauge. Mid sixties...

Curious about the mirrors your using. I worked in a RV dealership till economy put out of business in the late 70's. We had a mirror that was adjustable and would clamp in over the fender and around...

Re: Auto transmission

Best bet is to find entire vehicle with same engine and the transmission you want. Farmers back 40, salvage yard etc. You can remove every piece that has anything top do with transmission. Cooling...

Re: Shop led lighting

Thanks for replies about door openers. Was afraid if I went LED and had them on, doors wouldn't work. Sounds like if I keep compacts or incandescent in the openers themselves everything will be ok....

Re: Shop led lighting

When you use the led's will your garage door openers work from the auto's remotes? When led's came out some of them put out a frequency that blocked the remote's from working.
