Re: Need Help With A 1932 Ford Part

Michael,

Good catch; you're right on an original switch the knob is threaded as well. Perhaps what Bill has is a non-Ford version of the switch. Likely many Ford parts of the past and present,...

Re: The Ford Books Fastener Guide

I spray on silicone to protect the S-2 finish fasteners that I use.

Unlike real plating (cadmium, zinc, silver, gold, nickel, etc.), black oxide doesn't add any material, but rather colors the...

Re: Need Help With A 1932 Ford Part

Bill,

Patience and perseverance; the escutcheon is indeed threaded. The switch you have is what is considered to be the early version, but in reality maybe there were two different suppliers...

Re: Top iron identification

You're right; I should have taken a closer look at what I have on file.

Re: Installing a 32' Roadster Body

Nick,

FYI, the two long ones in your photo of drag links appear to be stock '32s. The one on the far left appears to be a stock '33-'34 drag link and the Pitman arm attached to it the same.

Re: 32' v8 exhaust....?

It did clean up very nicely, but I'd have it resurfaced to ensure smooth clutch operation.

Re: 32' v8 exhaust....?

That's the right pipe. These days I have the entire exhaust system powder coated with high temp flat black, but there are some good spray-on/brush-on high temp paints out there as well to use after...

Re: 32' v8 exhaust....?

Nope, not there yet. You have to add one of the two short S-shaped pipes (that are at the bottom of your earlier photo) at the back end of your photo on the right. The back end of the long pipe in...

Re: Unreal !!!!

You did indeed and also what appears to be remnants of the original floor mats plus the back curtain of an original deluxe roadster top.

Re: 1932 Ford Panel Truck

Not that I have photos of both, but which configuration are you seeking? The hinged passenger seat used with the large fuel tank or the free-standing passenger seat used with the small fuel tank?

Re: 32' v8 exhaust....?

Regarding the pipes in your photos, it appears that you have two of the correct long tail pipe sections (at the top of the first photo) and two of the matching short tail pipe sections at the bottom...

Re: Installing a 32' Roadster Body

A minor thing, but judging from your photos you are planning to use an original front license plate bracket as it is already painted and ready to go. When installed on the front cross tube it would...

Re: Installing a 32' Roadster Body

Correct, the spring should not be installed at that point of the body installation as it will not properly clear that which is behind the instrument panel. Good point.

The phaetons and...

Re: Top iron identification

Karl.

The front bracket looks right, agreed, but '33-'34 phaeton irons don't have two long pieces attached to the forward-most long piece attached to that bracket.

Re: Installing a 32' Roadster Body

The fuel/air line as Michael mentions and the tail lamp wiring as Bored&Stroked mentioned plus the exhaust system. Installing the gas tank on a '32-'34 passenger car chassis before the body is not...

Re: FORD vs FERRARI

Saw it this evening and it was worth the time and money spent. As a spectator Ford Division employee at the time (the racing program was a Ford Division responsibility), I noted a number of errors...

Re: What is it?

The build up of the armed forces was well under way and enormous amounts of armaments and other essential goods were being sent to England under the Lend/Lease program.

Re: '33 tire cover outer band

If the origin of the car that the band came off was Ford of France, the color choices were not the same as in the U.S., even though the body was of North American origin.

Re: Cowl lights- AV8 Roadster

Sadly, at least half the drivers on the road today are clueless when it comes to hand signals. Some even interpret them as urging them to pass. I've seen some scary things happen to bicycle riders...
