Re: Valve Lash Esky. Cam

Perhaps I'm reading the chart that you provided wrong but doesn't it indicate the lash setting as being HOT ?

Re: 39 door adjustment

If after installing a new seal, it seems overly tight then just close the door and let it sit for a period of time while also using it, to let it seat itself.

Re: Good sounding single muffler

Some original type mufflers are straight thru and some are offset with baffles.
Which do you have?

Re: How do I post photos?

Your picture file is too big.
When you open the manage attachments window to choose file, scroll down to see JPEG maximum of 585.9 KB 800x600 pix.
You have to resize your image.

Re: Post pics?. . . from computer to Ford Barn?

You have to use 'manage attachments' to create an attachment for this site.

Your biggest problem will most likely be to properly size the photo that will be acceptable.

Re: Looking for 1939 Ford Deluxe cardboard door panels

The only thing I have used to make from scratch is 1/8" luan plywood, available from Home Depot as well as other sources.

Re: 8ba Inlet Manifold Under carb Vacuum.

The stock loadomatic distributor does not use the wiper vacuum port for vacuum. It connects to a vacuum port on the carburetor.
You can drill a hole if you choose but it is most likely a waste of...

Re: Electric power steering from a Saturn Vue into '54 Ford Customline

Not at the time the photo was taken.
And it appears to be an automatic equipped car (no clutch pedal)
Being a column shift, a way to shift will have to be addressed (such as a floor shift)

Re: Electric power steering from a Saturn Vue into '54 Ford Customline

Interesting adaptation but no mention was made on how the shifting of the transmission was addressed.

Did a little research and found that any column shift vehicle needed a new method of...

Re: 59AB Thermostat clocking

The 59AB mount plate is located horizontally so there is not a clock position where 12 o'clock would be up.
Those/these instructions apply when the mount plate is vertical or close to vertical....

Re: 59AB Thermostat clocking

Might make a difference on an 8BA where it is mounted at 45 deg. to level but on a 59AB where it is almost level, I doubt it makes any difference.

Re: Hood adjustment on 53' Mercury

That makes sense because it looks like a later factory added support that helped to prevent buckling just forward of the front side bolt.
Earlier hoods did not have that added support.

Re: Hood adjustment on 53' Mercury

3 bolts---
Just one part of the puzzle.
Don't be surprised that if after some adjusting, the radiator core support has to be moved to make it perfect.

Re: Hood adjustment on 53' Mercury

There are 3 bolts on each side that attach the hood to the cross support.
Generally there should be enough movement after loosening them to move the hood forward.
Without seeing the the total...

Interesting development. May be standard practice some day on flatheads but did notice that special attention has to be given to the cylinder bore finish....

Re: Some success on freeing up the valve on the 53!

If after all the procedures are tried, it does not smooth out and compression is not restored, you might have to consider that you have a burnt exhaust valve.
This is one that was removed after...
