You could check voltage to starter both cold and hot when it cranks slow. Should tell you where the trouble is or at least narrow it down.

Save yourself future grief and notch the condenser ground so you don't have to remove the bolt to change it. You can just loosen it a couple turns.

I would not warm it up without water in it. Only needs block sealer if it leaks. You can achieve oil pressure by cranking it with the plugs out. If it's 6volt a 12 volt battery will turn it faster....

The one I got for my 39 deluxe has a second layer of metal on the blades where the rivets are. Most others I've seen don't have this. It has a 3" hub.

I think the hardest part will be changing manifolds. If there is nothing wrong with your current system I wouldn't change it.

I have replaced many sockets that seem to go missing only to find them mixed in with the metric ones. Usually happens due to my son using my tools.

I had my cond. meter repaired at local audio shop. He replaced all the old capacitors and I got to test all my old Nors condensers found at swap meets years ago. Most failed but a new Napa one tested...

Get a copy of 1939 and 1940 engine & chassis repair manual. It is available from several venders and covers brake adjustment .
