Re: Found in a Grain Warehouse Attic
Valuable information. I always tell people a new _____ costs the same reguardless of the condition or existance of the old one. Sheet metal may be an exception.

Re: Seat Belts ?
Good idea to check state requirements. Wisc code 347.48 Safety belts says
(2) Type and manner of installing. All such safety belts must be of a type and must be installed in a manner approved...

Re: Gas tank valve size
I have good luck with the dirty leg. Works well with the fine rust that washes off the top of the tank. The filter is a stand pipe that traps water and rust in the bottom of the tank that promotes...

Re: Most Liberal Insurance Underwriters?
The policies I checked all have a trip purpose limitation. It's not where you go it's why you made the trip that counts. If you go to a show and stop at your place of employment that seems ok. They...

Re: Emergency brake linings
Brake machines have a bit for drilling rivet holes. They are very similar to the bits sold for countersinking flat head screws. A brake shop should have one and be able to help you. Look for a shop...

Re: 68A seat base
I think Marco is right on the money. A front seat is very easy to burn or tear. Replacement adjustable seat from a junk yard didn't fit so just fasten it to the original base with wood screws. Seems...

Re: New cork sinks
The coating on the cork does not prevent it from absorbing liquid, it prevents it from drying out. Keeping the cork wet also prevents it from drying out. As in the past I offer the comparison to the...

Re: flywheel housing crack repair?
I suspect many of them are cracked by dragging them on the floor. Since there is very little strength in the housings I used ones with cracks at the lower bolt holes without hesitation. The strength...

Re: sediment bowl question
The screen fits into a recessed area in the housing. The cork gasket goes in next and is wide enough to hold the screen in place. Is the neoprene gasket wide enough to do that?

Re: Valve Job Blues
Having had two seats come out of a rebuild (well known rebuilder) I decided I would only replace bad seats in the future. These were replaced solely because hardened seats are "better". If they are...

Re: Joint MARC / MAFCA Clubs
I agree with Marco also. Since a major portion of the club's dues go to the magazine publication a combined club would need to eliminate one magazine or substantially increase dues. This eliminates...

Re: Gas Stations that offered SERVICE
I'm sure it happened in places. During the 50's I worked in at least 3 different places where it didn't happen and never heard of a local place that helped create failures. All were on US 12 with...

Re: what do you collect of parts ...and how many?
When you need a part you buy one. Then you find a better one, and then an even better one. After a few it becomes a habit to always buy that part. Then it becomes another hobby to organize storage. ...

Re: Shay reproductions
A friend had a Shay until I talked him into getting a real A. Only problem he had was with the wheels. The spokes came loose and he had to have the wheels rebuilt several times.

Re: 1930 tools on ebay
The lugnut/crank handle is a V8 era version. The crank is missing the extension. It's length determines the year and engine.

Re: '33-'34 PU w/s frame identification
In addition to no shelf the 32-34 pickup has no wiper holes as all Model A frames do. Conversion between them is possible by adding/removing shelf and filling wiper holes. 28-29 Model A are different...
