Re: 41 original spare tire

When my father purchased our 32 coupe in 1952 it had Allstate tires. I still have one as a spare and it has holded air for many years.

Re: Carburator fuel bowl leak

I'm near 45 and 132. Get my gas at Sam's for a bit less. Going to try the Hylomar this coming week and see what happens.

Re: 1932 Ford Grille Shell

A wonderful conundrum!
Punching out those holes caused wear and tear on the tooling. So why continue if there was no need? Except that it was a one-year problem.
Euclid, I think, posited that...

Carburator fuel bowl leak

I have a Stromberg 48 carb and a Ford 59 carb. Both of them will leak out their fuel bowls overnight. The fuel includes ethanol, of course. Why?:(

Re: fuel pump push rod

To lengthen a push rod you could take an empty casing from a 38 caliber cartridge, grind the base where the primer is located to the amount of lift you want, and drop it on the rod.

Oh, be sure...

Re: 1932 Ford V8 Radiator

Many, many years ago (1963?) I had an outfit called Triangle Radiator, in Chicago, on Irving Park Road, put a new core into an original 32 radiator. They removed the upper and lower tanks and somehow...

Re: new to the v-8s.......

IMHO, when set up well you can lock the brakes at near 60 mph. At least in my '32 45 I could. I think you youngsters have gotten used to ABS and other great improvements in braking capabilities.

Flathead upgrade

Have to admit that with the advent of electronic ignition and fuel injection I don't worry about my car starting under any meteorologic condition. They don't fail. I do think that I am reading...

Re: 1932 ford vin # question

David G,
My daughters purchased your books for me several years ago. What a wonderful trove of information.
Have a question for you on body build timing.
It is a model 45.

The visors are...

Re: Selling parts on line

Haven't made a purchase or sale on-line for at least 10 years. Back then I never had a problem. Parts were as described and reasonably priced. I provided pictures for my stuff but also trusted the...

Re: Is it OK to lift a '39 Ford using frame lift

IMHO,,as an 80some old barner, these frames were so well over-designed that you could pick them up with jackstands without making damage.
But, as an engineer, am willing to discuss with other...

This may have been discussed earlier but I cannot find it.

Where can I purchase a replacement economizer valve for a 94 that is capable of dealing with the alcohol "enhanced" fuel I need to use?...

1932 Running Board Covers

I have a pair of well worn, original 1932 running boards. Both of them have well-defined surfaces that are close to white where the original surface has worn away. What is this all about?

Re: Identifying carburetors

To get back, sort of, to my original question, where do I find an economizer valve for my Ford or Holley carb that will not leak because of the ethanol in modern fuels?

Re: Factory welding

Factory welding

The lines of body welding in my '32 5 window, on the inside, are very regular. Look like automatic, not hand done. How was that done back then?

Re: 32 and up hinges

Get a pin punch slightly smaller than the diameter of the hinge pin. A carefully aimed swat with a hammer should do the job. You don't want to just tap it. Doing so will expand the tip of the...

I am, or was, a mechanical design engineer for production "stuff".
Given the number of different vertical and horizontal "faces" that were required to match up to put that exhaust system into mass...
