Re: Flat head back firing pop. pop over and over

If the choke cleared it out, that would indicate a lean situation. I wonder if you have a vacuum leak or a valve(s) that stick. We might need more information.

How well does it idle?
Does...

Re: Coil adapter issue

I get it. I'd rather see a Ford coil on the distributor. If nothing else it just looks good.

Re: Swapping Engines

I really don't think you'll be dissapointed with a 24 stud, 221ci, 1939 engine or a 59A. I have a '39 pickup in stock form. It drives really nice and has plenty of power with a 3.78 rearend. I...

Re: Removing caps on '37 hubcaps?

Just use it as a pre-heat for a pizza you can bake after for your reward.

Re: Coil adapter issue

You could take an original Ford coil and send it to Skip Haney and he will rebuild it with new internals and 12 volt. Then run a stock fan.

Hopefully the prior owner didn't install an electric...

Re: Swapping Engines

I would prefer a 59A. Same power out of a stock engine but it will look like it belongs in the truck. Also the water pumps and heads won't pose a fitment issue with a 59A. The 59A is a direct...

Re: Removing caps on '37 hubcaps?

Drill a small hole on the back of the hubcap through the steel. Be careful as not to go through the stainless cap on the outside. Use compressed air to blow air into the small hole. The cap should...

Re: Skip Haney

You are correct. GM was Skip's boss. George passed a year or two ago.

Re: Driving The 52 Merc

The high temps in Southern Illinois are around 70 and the lows are in the mid 50's.

Re: Skip Haney

I am running an original Ford coil on a '37 Ford. As Tubman said, they deteriorate over time. I figure my original coil is on borrowed time. I had an original on the shelf so I sent it to Skip. There...

Re: Skip Haney

I'm happy to report that I spoke to Skip on the phone this afternoon. All is well with him and he's still rebuilding coils. The current price is $120, includes shipping.

941-637-6698 says your call cannot be completed as dialed.

I also sent him an email this morning.

Skip Haney

I want to send a coil to Skip for a rebuild. The phone number I have for him does not work.

Can anyone tell me if he is still rebuilding coils?

Thanks!

Re: Is this heater from a 1937 Ford?

You could try to sell it on the swap meet page or on Marketplace. Although, I've tried to sell nice aftermarket hot water heaters before with no luck.

Re: V8 Rear Axle Width

Is the OP putting a Model A body on a '32 frame? I've seen that done a few times. I'll assume the OP is using the Model A Frame.

It might be beneficial to ask in the Model A forum what rearend...

Re: V8 Rear Axle Width

Why don't you tell us what year V8 car you are working on? Then you will know what rearend you need to find. It seems pretty simple to me.

I think you might be over estimating the power you're...

Re: What year is this?

I was just being funny. My bias is obviously Ford. I've never been much of a fan of the GM styling of the 30s or 40's. I think by then end of the 50's their styling inproved. In my opinion, Ford's...

Re: What year is this?

Bait and switch. No one wants a new Pontaic so they adverstied a Ford to get you there. Only to be let down by the sight of that Pontiac. Couldn't give that Pontiac away.

Re: "early" '32 rear end rebuilders?

Charlie Schwendler in NY can do it. I'll PM his cell phone number to you.
