Re: 1935 1936 Inside Door or Window Handle Tool

Roger that. That's all I've ever used.

Re: 1935 1936 Inside Door or Window Handle Tool

I've removed and installed lots of '35-'36 inner door handles over the years and don't recall ever needing a special tool like the ones shown here.

Re: I just can't burn another armature....

If you are using a Fun Projects electronic voltage regulator in place of an original cutout, I'm reasonably sure their instructions suggest moving the third brush as far as it will go in the...

Re: 39 ford

Probably the result of a component that funtions okay when cool but fails when heated. The components to check would be the coil, condenser, and ignition resistor mounted on firewall, behind dash.

Third Generation Automotive in Tennessee ( Michael Driskell) is very good at rebuilding EFV-8 distributors.

Re: 2019 Iola car show

The Iola swap meet/car show was a very nice event several years ago when we happened to be traveling close to that area on our way to an EFV-8 C/A Meet in Minnesota. We found many good buys, and got...

Re: 36 ford transmission shifter very slopy

In addition to restoring the slot in the shifter, the pin could be worn as well as the hole for the pin in top of shift tower.

Re: where to puchase quality clutch parts

When working on my mostly original cars, my preference is sending the original clutch and pressure plate cores to Fort Wayne for rebuild. Typically, their cost for rebuilding is comparable to the...

Post Re: Bring a Trailer

I agree, and unfortunately, many folks in our generation, who now own these old cars, are not truly interested in mentoring the younger generation.

Re: Source for '35 diagrams and illustrations?

There are members here who have restored '35 Ford pickups to The Early Ford V-8 Club's Dearborn Award level, and as you restore your vehicle, I'm sure they will chime in here on any questions you may...

Re: Crab Distributor Question

Thank you for all you do for us here on the Barn Charlie, and for the hobby in general!!
I was in Hamburg, NY last weekend, and was wondering how close I might have been to your location? :)

Re: Muffler review

I've been running single straight pipe on my 35 Avatar for over 10 years because I was not going to use anything but an original 35 muffler that I could afford. Thanks to Michael Driskell @ Third...

Tom, pm me on this. I'm sure I still have some new ones left in with my distributor rebuilding parts, and can drop one in the mail to you.

Done!! Parts on the way.

Re: how to properly grease rear wheel bearings

Good advice here, and what I would also strongly recommend. The best thing you can do with those zerk fittings on the axel housings is remove them, and replace with threaded plugs.

Re: Crab Distributor Question

Tom, I believe that pad is normally made of leather, at least it is in the earlier helmet distributors. The last new ones I got came from Kenct, and I think he made them by punching them from the...

Re: 1936 Sedan brakes conversion

I have stock mechanical brakes on my '35 fordor, except for adding floaters/equalizers at each wheel, and this set-up will stop my car as well as any '39-'48 Ford I have driven that had a stock...

Re: 21 stud cam installed in my 59AB

'37- early '38, 21 stud blocks can usually be bored to 3-3/16" without a problem. That's not the case for '36 and earlier blocks.

Re: Fender ID, 35 or 36?

Nine years ago I judged 35 and 36 cars on the concourse at the EFV-8 Club's Western National Meet in Saint George, Utah. One of the cars on the show field had a 35 rear fender on one side and a 36...

Re: 21 stud cam installed in my 59AB

I doubt if there's any real significant/noticeable difference in performance between the early cam vs later cam on an engine built for the street.
Your mind is probably set on using a crab style...

Re: Fender ID, 35 or 36?

This is probably a better picture and explanation for comparing 35 to 36 passenger car rear fenders.

Re: Fender ID, 35 or 36?

I have an overlay drawing comparing contour differences between 35 vs 36 rear fenders. If I can find that pic, will post here later.

Re: Help with banjo rear

That's not totally true. Preload setting is required for carrier bearings as well as pinion bearings. The gaskets/shims set preload on carrier bearings first, then by adusting previously established...
