I just rebuilt a carb that had a brass or bronze filter on it, it was no good at all as someone drilled out the gas inlet and no way to hook up the gas line. Also the drain valve was not the right...

As Richard L. said if the solder flows deeper into the jet which it usally does, it is very necessary to flow test the jets to see how they flow.

It can be fixed by brazing it. like others said it has to be put in a jig that holds it in place. I have done several but they were not broken into the throat like yours. May be better...

I made my own several years ago, just took a 3/8" deep socket and carefully filed it down to 13/32", works just fine and I use a lot to rebuild carburetors.

Same thing happened to me, out with the car and could not shift, made it home in second gear. Did not know this is a frequent problem. Asked on this forumn and did not hear about this happening....

Yes the vendors sell a replacement arm. I had an old housing out in the shed that I was able to get the arm off of and used that. I will have to keep an eye on it.
