Re: 1st model a brake job

Looks like your lugs are welded onto the hub. You will have to get different hubs.

Re: 1st model a brake job

Yes that is a big red flag. Are you going over the whole system?

Re: Radius rod ball

I like to fix them once so I would weld it up and file it down. But the washers and the rubber work as a temporary bandaid fix.

Re: Oil Leak Question

If it is leaking from the flywheel housing drain hole, that means it is leaking from the back of the block to the flywheel housing. Some people use a gasket there, others use rtv. There are two bolt...

Re: Engine

Brent you are completely right, I forgot to mention that. Funny as it has happened to me. Sometimes you can get lucky as the insert is softer than the crank and you can remove it with crocus cloth....

Re: Correct frame paint color

I would not try to reinvent the wheel here and stick with what is used these days: urethane.

Re: MARC 2022 Hotels

Don't count on it, I think the host hotel has less than 100 rooms. I will probably get berated for this, but I wish they picked a better hotel with more rooms. Nobody really likes shuttling between...

Re: Early Oil Pan Wowes

Well to answer it I guess my car still is early it was just restored poorly and a lot of the original early parts are gone. I have slowly been improving and adding stuff.

I ended up putting a...

Re: Early Oil Pan Wowes

Btw my car was originally a very early 28 probably January so this would have been it. I saw it and had to have it!

Re: Engine

This is a whole debate with babbit vs inserts and personal opinions. Let me offer you this. Babbit is a little more tougher than inserts but is a big problem to replace if something goes wrong....

Re: Early Oil Pan Wowes

Richard, you are misunderstanding what I have. I have the first design pan that has a dipper tray that screws into four spot welded brackets rather than snapping in like the later styles. This was...

Re: Model A Town Car

The town cars are quite interesting aren't they? Don't see a lot of them, always welcome to see one.

Re: paint colors available

I have found that powder coating is extremely overrated. It might hold up a little better but you cannot touch it up like you can spraying. I have seen Model A wheels with it and it is duller than...

Early Oil Pan Wowes

Can you put an early oil pan (the one that has the screwed in dipper tray) into a 1929 engine? Could you use a later oil pump too? I know the rods were always the same, but was the first design oil...

Re: gastank shutoff valve leak at threads- options?

Well you could use yellow teflon tape which is used for chemicals and gas lines. Are you sure it is coming from the threads?

Re: Clutch Disk Chatter

It could be that for sure. Oil or grease on the disk is one of the main causes of that. The lining might be compromised now depending on how long it has been wet.
Thre other main cause is you have...

Re: REQUEST FOR INFO: What are the make, model, and specifications of this aluminum h

Okay then it is aluminum. If you ever have the head off like Brent said, you can solve the mystery!

Re: What model A would this be

That engine number would put the engine somewhere in August 1928. Frames were sometimes stamped with engine numbers that were up to three months old.

Re: REQUEST ADVICE: Changing Timing gear.

Usually when a fiber timing gear fails whatever pieces of it fall directly down into the oil pan dipper tray.

Another piece of advice - when you put a jack under the engine jack it up just...

Re: Engine Temp IR and Moto Meter Reading

I agree with Brent, you are probably OK. My old radiator which was a poor aftermarket one would run around 210 - a new Bergs gets me to 160 to 170. With what you did, there should be no change in...

What makes you think it is aluminum? Did you check with a magnet? Just wondering.

Re: Is this a standard 21" Model A wheel?

Wheels that aren't too rusted and actually run true when spun on a lathe are getting hard to find!
