Re: Generator noise, '30 Tudor
The front end plate has a narrow strap riveted to the plate, and this strap needs to be pushed to the side to expose the oil hole. Many original exposed ball bearings have been replaced by a sealed...

Re: Powerhouse Generators, 5 Brush vs. 3 Brush
Both have the same output, but the original 5 brush used more wire in the field windings, so it took a tiny bit less power away from the output. I always wished Ford had used the powerhouse for all...

Re: Rear Motor Mount Rubber Issue
I buy parts mostly from Bert's, Bratton's, and Snyder's. The last 2 sets or rear motor mount rubbers, just by chance, came from Snyder's, and both sets fit perfectly. Others have reported that the...

Re: Head gasket
If you need more clearance, you can also use 2 head gaskets. I bought an engine at a swap meet, and when I cleaned it and took it apart I found someone had used 2 head gaskets for some reason, but it...

Re: Sea-Foam
I use 4 ounces of MMO to each 10 gallons of good gas without the corn crap, and it really does help.
I'm also a believer in SEA FOAM as it freed up stuck hydraulic lifters in an Olds. I poured a...

Re: Generator cutout wiring hookup pictures.
Both wire terminals connect to the front of the cutout on early 1930 (about March) and later generators.
The earlier generators had the generator stud on the front side of the cutout, so both wire...

Re: Brake Light Switch Backwards
With no pull on the switch rod, the switch should be spring loaded to be OPEN. If it isn't, then remove the cover and see if the contacts are mounted incorrectly. I've seen it happen on the 28-9...

Re: Sealing wax on condenser?
Sealing wax melts at much too low a temperature to be used on the distributor.
I melted some of it years ago, and took the temp when it melted.

Re: Missing Valve seat
I agree, and it's amazing the number of people that think they know how to install valve seats, but don't do it correctly. In the 80's I worked in a shop doing engine work, and I always used a liquid...

Re: grease gun adapter
I like my original fittings and original grease gun.
Try a heat gun on the old hard grease, to see if it will soften up to allow new grease in.

Re: Engine Machining
By "inserts" I hope you don't mean you want to install valve seats. I would only do that if it is REALLY needed to correct excess recess of the original seat.

Re: 1928 multi disc starter motor
I agree, and have all the parts to put my 28 Phaeton back to the original multiplate.
I don't like to modify good original parts, but the first style multiplate flywheel can be turned for clearance....

Re: 1928 multi disc starter motor
Yes, I was thinking he wanted to change the clutch also. The only way to use a 5/8" drive with a multiplate flywheel is to make sure the outside diameter of the flywheel has the clearance cut for the...

Re: Using 85 octane fuel
Anyone with a new flex fuel vehicle that wants to use E-85 take note that the engine life will be cut to only about 65,000 miles. So, there is no savings. It's a waste any way you look at it.

Re: model a ford wire ga
Not that heavy for the wire.
Bratton's might list the gauge on the wiring picture in their parts catalog.

Re: 1928 multi disc starter motor
You'll need the 5/8" starter, and everything from the flywheel to the U-joint, including the clutch and brake pedals.
Someone changed my 28 to the 5/8" starter, but someday I'll change it back to...

Re: Something is not right!
Too much tow-in means the fronts of the tires need to be spread apart, so since the tie rods are on the rear side of the axle, they need to be made shorter.
I'd try Bert's @ 800-321-1931 or...
