Re: Reproduction Fuel Tanks

Just a short follow up on this. I ended up ordering one of Bob Drake’s tanks. It came in 3 days, was beautifully made, and slipped in from below without difficulty. Kudos to Bob and his staff.

Re: Reproduction Fuel Tanks

Have any of you had experience with installing a "Tanks, Inc" tank from underneath? Today I removed my original tank after continuing fuel contamination problems...just plain nasty looking inside. ...

Re: 11" clutch with a 3 speed?

I had an 11" clutch on my '37 pickup. It was indestructible. Never noticed any heaviness in operation, just that it refused to wear out.

Re: Tire truing/shaving at John Worden's shop

Assuming it was a previously used tire and not possible due to age or whatever to return it to the vendor as defective, I agree with you that shaving was a positive solution.

Re: Tire truing/shaving at John Worden's shop

Of course you realize that by shaving a tire all you've done is masked the symptoms of a poor quality tire and, depending on how much shaving was necessary to achieve the roundness it should have had...

Re: Gravity bends a crank?

Hardly news...Molly's known this all along...she's seen straight crankshafts in every position imaginable.

Re: Comfortable speed

I daily drive my '35 with 3.78 at 65, when safe, allowing extra stopping distance between me and the car in front of me. As has been intimated, the critical element in modern traffic is the ability...

Re: Evans waterless coolant

All Evans does is raise the boiling point. If your engine is in otherwise good running order, but boils over with water, there's something wrong (e.g., cracked block or head, ignition timing way off,...

Re: Driveshaft spline worn

Continued use will also wreck the pinion shaft. I ruined an otherwise good 3.54 gear set that way. Don't use it.

Re: Weiand Cheater Heads

Got it. Didn't know the Wieand heads had the Ford parts number on them. Good to know.

Actually, mine do say "Made in Canada", and are genuine Ford parts, not Wieand.

Re: Gear Shift Lever Install

If Chris' approach doesn't work (it should) your next step would be to take the top off the tranny, install the shift lever back in the top, at which point you can easily line up the shifter forks....

Re: Lucas ethanol fuel additive

I don't know what claims the Lucas product makes, nor how true they are, but I can personally vouch for Stabil 360. I was having constant fuel contamination issues if my car sat in the garage for...

Re: New vs Used Gears

I bought a new first/reverse slider from him last year as part of a rebuild of a '39 tranny. It's working perfectly; absolutely quiet. I second what Scooder and Seth said...if Mac sells it, you can...

Re: how to tellthe diff between DOT 3 & DOT 5 brake fluid

I'm sure you're not seriously suggesting the intentional poisoning of a neighbor's dog are you? Even as a joke, that's not funny and has no place on the Fordbarn.

Re: Looking for My '37 Pickup

I hadn't thought of an ad in the V8 Times. Great idea!
And your analogy is spot on, by the way!

Re: Looking for My '37 Pickup

It's got to be out there somewhere. I will pay a $1,000 finder's fee for information leading to its repurchase. I think the Model T guy that bought it lived in Rio Linda, CA. It may be out of...

Looking for My '37 Pickup

I'm looking for my '37 pickup, which I sold in 1992. CA license plate 74748U. Sold it to a Model T guy from the Sacramento area who wanted a V8. Any leads greatly appreciated.

Re: The story of YOUR FORD...car , pickup , truck , commercial vehicle

It's beautiful. My favorite year of Fordor...a transition car...still has elements of earlier Fords, but a precursor to later models.

Re: Windshield Washer Foot Pedal

'67/'68 Mercury Cougars (probably Mustangs, too) used a foot pedal. Might be able to find and adapt?? (Probably a stupid idea, I'll admit.)
