Vent window rivet setter.

A few decades ago, I redid my '55 vent windows with all new rubber and fuzzy weatherstripping. In order to accomplish this, the old rivets holding the bottom mounting bracket to the window guide...

Re: 56 courier defroster nozzle question

As I recall, there are four defrost "boots" under the dash, two on each side of the radio speaker grille. When I pulled mine out, I couldn't re-use those gaskets either, so I got a roll of 3M...

Re: I notice my transmission leaking a little bit on the floor.

Typical leak points of the Ford-O-Matic:
Air-cooled converter large O-ring seal
Gear select "shift-lever" O-ring seal
Fluid pan gasket
Dipstick tube connection to fluid pan not tight enough
Are...

Re: 56 dash removal

There is one bolt at the bottom of the dash that connects it to the side of the cowl (on each side of the dash). All the rest are at the top.
After removing the garnish mouldings, you will see...

Re: 55 fairlane heater control cable question

There were two types of controls used in '55/56:
1) the el cheapo vacuum control type has a vacuum thermostat valve located inside the heater register, controlled by the temperature cable. It has a...

Re: cluster light socket high beam

That is a unique and oddball looking light socket too BTW, since it is a deepwell type so the bulb sticks way into the hi-beam well. Kinda looks like a cigarette with a washer around it. Look around...

Re: Poorly running fresh rebuilt 292

First, do this; with engine off, turn the carburator idle-fuel mixture screws in all the way till they stop (lightly), then back them off one and one half revolutions. That is your starting point for...

Re: 55 Ford Fairlane 12 volt conversion problems

Notice how the headlight switch terminals are labelled with a letter.
You have "H" for headlamps, "I" for interior lights, "D" for dash lights (off the dimmer control), "S" for stop lights. "P" for...

Re: 55 fairlane heater control cable question

Well.....there are THREE cables from the Magic-Aire System control. The top cable goes to the thermostatically controlled water valve located inside the entrance to the cardboard heater register. The...

Re: Stock 57 Fairlane 500

If you want to keep the engine period correct, Ford did offer a 292 in '57 with 4-bbl & dual exhausts in some passenger cars. I think all the T-Birds had the 312 with 4-bbl & duals and they had a...

Re: Stock 57 Fairlane 500

My understanding of the reason for wanting a 4-bbl over a 2-bbl is that during normal driving, you really only have the front two venturi's operating (like a 2-bbl), but if you stomp on it, the 2nd...

Re: 55 Crown Victoria generator light coming on

Underneath the arms (at the top) that have the contacts on the ends is a round head that holds the copper coil down. That head is magnetized to pull the top contacts closed, but if the head below...

Re: 1959 generator and voltage regulator capacitors

Yes, they're mainly for radio noise suppression. I have never found what the capacity of the original condensers was, so kind of hard to replace, even if you could get a new one that doesn't look...

Re: 2 barrel carb

I bought my '55 in 1972. The original owners had just pulled it out of a barn where it had sat for seven years. It had never had anything done to the engine or anything else. It had a 272 with Ford...

Re: 2 barrel carb

Your carb is an oddball I've never seen before, because it is stamped with ECG, has the Ford oval on other side and has 1-1/16" venturies BUT does NOT have the automatic choke. I wonder if this was a...

Re: 2 barrel carb

All the repro places I mentioned sell one kit that fits all three types of carbs.
They list the kits as fitting Holley AA1, Holley 2100 and Holley 2110.
In reality, those kits are used to service...

Re: Re-pop Parts

No matter which repro parts supplier you use, most of the parts they offer ultimately come from the same manufacturer (usually china). You are not going to get better quality by buying Concours...

Re: 1955 Ford F-600

If you are going to do a body-off-frame restoration, here are some clues.
If the frame is to be sandblasted and refinished, it needs to be completely stripped down of every nut, bolt, ball-joint,...

BTW, if you don't have that tapered sleeve, I have some extra ones. I could send ya one one, but maybe you should look at my ad in the swap meet (lots of '55 parts for sale) and pick out of that list...

Re: steering column install

Ditto what Ole Don said.
I believe you are missing the tapered sleeve. It slips down over the steering shaft and rests on the roller bearing that is built in to the hub area of the steering column....

I went and read your post. I also noticed that your issue occurred this year.
After what happened to me, I told them I would never order from them again EVER! That was in summer of 2018, and I have...

Re: 2 barrel carb

The carb you have looks like a Ford EBU. It is made by Holley, but has the Ford oval. It was introduced for the '54 Ford 239 Y-block and carried over to early '55 cars with 272 Y-block. I believe...

Re: Rust Oleum spray cans

Sometimes the valve in the top of the can gets stuck and won't allow the sprayer to go down. If it is just the spray nozzle, I keep a little box full of all kinds of spray nozzles and usually the...
