Re: flathead mercury EAC engine info needed

When I bought my replacement block for my car (due to cracks in the original block), I took these pictures after I had cleaned it and before the rebuild. They were all viable once I took the intake...

Re: flathead mercury EAC engine info needed

Based on the carburetor and the heads: 125 HP from a 53' Mercury. Based on: "he says its complete but cant turn it by hand" and the condition of the crank - $200 +/-

Re: Time to work

Last month I finally pulled the trigger on redoing the full leather interior on my 53' Merc Convertible. The interior guy ordered the hides and wanted all to come from the same dye lot (yellow). He...

Re: Electrical schematic request - 41 Convt. electric top

Do you have a picture of the motors and how they attach? If they are the configuration I think they might be, a 12 volt window motor, from a mid 50's car might be able to be adapted, if you are gong...

Re: To dwell or not to dwell

Dave,

Per your request, no battery, and it works on 6 volt Pos ground (my 53' Merc) and 12 volt Neg ground (the 1970 Cougar XR-7, that belongs to my wife). I need to reset my points, they are...

Re: To dwell or not to dwell

See if a few pictures of Dwell meters, with no internal battery will help. I use the hand held unit on my 6 volt pos ground 53' Mercury, with the red clamp going to the ground and the black to the...

Re: Electrical schematic request - 41 Convt. electric top

Good catch, you are correct, they were hydraulic and not vacuum. That's what I get for reading the Motors Manual on electric, hydraulic and vacuum power tops, prior to my post. I need to disengage...

Re: Electrical schematic request - 41 Convt. electric top

Thanks for the post. The 41' and 53' systems are very similar, except the 53' used a single motor, which would would eliminate the issue of of out of sinc motors. It is interesting to note that just...

Re: Electrical schematic request - 41 Convt. electric top

Just wondering, in 53', the Mercury used two screw jacks and a single motor. How similar were the systems?

Re: Restoring 1953 Mercury Medallion Assembly (front door trim panel)

I cleaned the paint off the back of the medallion. Then packed the crest cavity with wet paper to protect the crest while I painted the back. Then my wife repainted the crest. Now to make a new back.

Re: Picture of Holley carburetor float adjustment tool 9550-E
