Re: Rubber mounting the muffler

I've done something quite similar with my AA. No noises at all. I am pleased with it.

Re: '29 A Town Sedan, over heating

We still need to know if you are actually overheating??
Get a thermometer and find out for sure what the temperature of the coolant is.
To me it doesn't sound as if you are really sure the timing...

Re: Distributor help

Take the distributor off of your car and put it on his once you get his off. Set the timing and see if it runs. Will let you know if the problem is in the distributor or in the switch.
Talk him...

Put a little grease on the rear motor mounts to help it slide in.

Re: Radiator fill question

Fill it up to just over the baffle and run it for a while. It just might be happy at the level and stay there without pushing any out the overflow tube.
Worth a try.

Re: Removing fan blade

Yes tapping on the nut works well. I take the nut off, reverse it and thread it back on 90% of the way. Be careful not to strike it too hard and off center as you can bend the shaft at the threaded...

Transmission oil shields

Are the oil shields next to the main bearings the same? I've opened up a later transmission that does not have one at the rear bearing.

Re: Zenith carburetor rebuild?

Did you use the spray can carburetor cleaner or did you soak the carburetor in one of the gallon cans of carburetor cleaner kits?
Soaking overnight and a bit longer goes a long way in getting a...

April 28 engine / Free

I have a motor that I would let go for free if anyone wants it.
The motor is stuck and the head has been welded at some point in time. I see no cracks, chips breaks or such on the block itself. It...

Re: Gas Shutoff/empty carburetor for overnight/long term parking.

Jack up the car and place jack stands on the passenger side of the car so it is higher so as to get the last bit of gasoline away from the fuel valve before you remove it.

Re: 1928

Replace the condenser first and see if that helps. Cheap and easy. Replace the coil second if that doesn't help. Only do one at a time that way you know what fixed it if it does.

Re: Sick ahooga horn

Take some fine sand paper and hold it lightly against the armature while you push the horn button to rotate it. It will clean and shine it up a bit. Doesn't take long and works wonders.

Re: oil pan gasket sealer?

I use a dab of Indian Head shellac in a couple of places just to hold the gasket in place. If you use the silicone sealant on both sides there is a possibility of excess sealant squeezing out inside...

Re: Transmission tower switch question

Thanks for all of the replies. It looks like putting a shift tower without the hand brake onto a later transmission is something that would work.

Re: Transmission tower switch question

I should have been more specific as it would be an early 28 tower that does not have the parking brake handle on it but rather the service brake handle is to the left of the driver.

Transmission tower switch question

Would there be any issues with putting a 28 shift tower on a later transmission like a 30-31?

Re: Locating dimple on timing gear

I use a short smallish phillips screwdriver to find it.
The only thing a phillips screwdriver will (should) fit on an A.

Re: '29 A Town Sedan, over heating

Get a meat thermometer and test the temperature before buying a new radiator.
Moto Meters are a neat accessory item but not usually very accurate.
You/we need to know for sure what the temperature...

Re: Front Main Bearing bolt leak

The person that rebuilt your engine should be making this right for you. Pulling it apart yourself will probably void the warranty. What does your builder say??
