Maybe diodes to keep the current from the left circuit from going to the right circuit (and vice versa)?

This shows my new pilot light. I bent some aluminum strip I had to clear the obstruction behind the dash rail and bored holes for the mounting bolt and lamp body. For some reason, it stays on with...
