My 50 used to bubble over when i first got it so nothing wrong with overheating problem so i installed 160 t stats 4 lb cap set level at just above the core then installed a stainless overflow tank...

i took the tumblers out of my door lock cyl on the left side and was still able to lock it with the key worked perfect

On my 50 cpe i removed the bulbs sockets and then with a small screwdriver push into the hole and they’ll break right apart they fall into the bottom of the speedo head and you’ll never see them then...

I can remember my dad always had one and used it don’t remember if the cars we had didn’t have power steering or not and it would also flip down inline with the wheel if you didn’t want to use it....

you need to buy a test light they work for both 6&12 volt key on should be power at the coil then go from there

Just a word of caution don’t crank engine over with the spark plug in if you think the cylinder has to much mmo in it you could wind up with major damage ,also on those old flatheads add 3oz of mmo...

On my 1950 cpe if i remember it also locked in @ 38 mph upon removal i cleaned it like you with penetrating oil so it would spin free then upon reinstalling it i noticed a little hole in the floor...

the shock your getting is probably coming from the horn relay check to make sure the relay has a good clean ground

I agree with tubman do what he suggests and i’ll only ad one thing also put 5 oz of marvel mystery oil in the gas had quite a few of the old flatheads in my time with sticky valves may take a few...

put the neg wire on the post remember a battery charger doesn’t have enough amps to engage it l always use the battery and like you said ground the case
