Re: Broke rear main casting, is it repairable?

Won't it leak oil into the valley where the cork goes? Or are you saying to weld it all the way around and file the valley back out?

Re: Broke rear main casting, is it repairable?

Another question...is the Babbitt supposed to be grooved on the cap? I can see the block side is grooved, can I cut my own groove or should I leave it as is?

Re: Starting Difficulty

When starting, did you turn the GAV counterclockwise 1/2 to 1 turn and close it back to about 1/4 turn open when started? Try that first. It also sounds like there might be a sticky intake valve....

Re: Running rough, won't start after it dies.

Greg, how did you get it to run? Did you pour gas into the cylinders? Did you choke it? Also, I really think you need to use the timing pin to locate the camshaft timing gear dimple and make sure #1...

Re: strange issue...any thoughts?

Yes it was off 3 teeth. I have repositioned it and it is now lined up properly. The timing pin drops in and #1 is at TDC on compression. I am going to prep it so that I can run it on a stand and then...
