Re: Valve removal

I've got the All-power horseshoe puller and the slidehammer.I never found a valve they wouldn't take out. sometimes it would put them in the rafters.

Re: axle key

Wrong Bob, The taper drives it. Why do you have to use a puller to get the hub and drum off.

Re: Fordomatic late shifting ('57 thunderbird)

If you look close at Dominic's picture on the right the plate is supposed to go between the first and second lands on the valve. The first land is on the outside as pictured and the plate will stop...

Re: Fordomatic late shifting ('57 thunderbird)

The bracket doesn't look bent. What about the spring and valve ahead of that valve, does it protrude out other end when fully depressed ?

Re: Fordomatic late shifting ('57 thunderbird)

You are correct on everything but minimum pressure. Minimum pressure is when the TV valve is extended fully against it stop. With the linkage at rest or removed the valve will be against its stop due...

Re: Finally some Cam Degree Numbers - Now what?

Russ, In your numbers you say the exhaust closes at 9* ATDC, the 77B is supposed to close at 19* ATDC. That's 10* early, If you closed up the lash what would it close at?

Re: 1940 Brake Bleeding

Bleeding brakes without the drums on is pretty risky, Easy to blow your wheel cylinders apart.

Re: Fordomatic late shifting ('57 thunderbird)

Minimum TV pressure is when the valve and lever are against the stop/L shaped bracket.
When the throttle is opened the lever moves the valve away from the stop increasing the pressure. When the...

Re: 1936 lower radiator hoses installation

They have a slight bend in them. They are stock lower hoses for a 49-50 Ford V8/8ba. You can get them from any parts store that sells Gates hoses, Napa probably has them too.I used them on my 36 and...

Re: Fordomatic late shifting ('57 thunderbird)

The original poster says that the problem is still there with the linkage disconnected. With the linkage disconnected the spring behind the throttle valve will return it to minimum pressure position....

Re: Finally some Cam Degree Numbers - Now what?

Russ ' It's a lot more practical than retarding a cam when you don't know where it's at! You don't know for sure that it is a cam timing problem.
You should find out where you're at before you start...

Re: Finally some Cam Degree Numbers - Now what?

You should find out where you're at before you start retarding the cam.
Better verify the cam is timed wrong before you change it.

Re: Finally some Cam Degree Numbers - Now what?

Russ, A 77B intake opens 19* btdc exhaust closes 19* atdc for a total of 38* overlap. So as Ron says if you split the overlap you're at tdc. Probably the best way to check valve opening and closing...

Re: king pin replace

Use stock spindles, Speedway spindles don't have the steering arms made on them. They are bolt on.

Re: Fordomatic late shifting ('57 thunderbird)

With the pan off work the lever by hand and watch the valve movement.
Spring pressure will hold the valve against the lever and the lever against the L shaped stop. The L shaped stop bracket is...
