Re: king pin assembely

The purpose of the shim washers is ensure that the roller bearings carry the vertical loads from the wheels. If not shimmed correctly, the king pin lock bolts incorrectly carry the vertical loads.

Re: Front Fenders

1928 and 1929 front fenders are the same in fit, form and function.

1930 fenders are unique because they have a piece of the running apron. So the 1930 running board aprons are unique also.

Re: 31 A rear axle shaft damage

I have replaced rear axles with used originals more than once without any negative consequences. The 190A in my avatar has a driver's side axle salvaged from another axle, and it runs quiet.

Re: Spring Lube ?? Additional....

Leaf springs are designed to have a certain amount of friction between the leaves. It is not an apples to apples comparison between the springs on Model A's and Ford V8's.

Re: Chicle/Copra Drab Color Combo + Black painted wheels

Re: Original Vicky interior

Hi Art, Hi Bill,
In the record of surviving 190A's, I believe that Art's 190A 28359 (Line 208) is the oldest Steel-Back. There is one other earlier Steel-Back in the list (Line 207), but I do not...

Re: Truck pictures

Nice pictures. Here's a suggestion for another. Take a picture with the truck offset to the right or left. This will make a background picture for a business card having text opposite of the truck.

Re: Spark and accelerator control rods...

What follows is conjecture.

Disassembly of the rods for restoration is not practical in my opinion. At best, clean the rods and have them plated or use a rattle can of dull aluminum paint to...

Re: Why the switch from electric to vacuum wipers in 1930?

My guess is cost and reliability. Electric wipers suffered from poor electrical grounding and failures of their internal mechanism. From Ford's service bulletins, I deduce:

Re: Brake Pills

It is not unusual to find one side of the front service brakes differs from the other. I suspect it occurs because of variations in the frame. To be sure you are judging the 15-degree angle...
