Re: Southwind heater

I've gotten quite a response from my ad, but one thing I haven't found yet is someone that sells parts for Southwinds. Does anyone know what happened to "the guy in Canada"? (I think his name is...

Southwind heater

I''d like to find a decent, working Southwind heater for my 40 Ford Tudor. I know they made a model that has stainless trim down the center that resembles the hood ornament on a 40 Ford.....I'm not...

Where to get the best quality pistons/rings for my A?

I'm installing new pistons in my model B engine and am wondering if there is a brand that is higher quality that I should purchase? I've heard that some manufacturers have gone to lower quality...

Re: 1932 headlight socket same as 1933-34 socket?

For anyone that comes across this thread looking for 1933-34 headlight sockets I can say that they ARE the same as 1932 sockets. I ordered a pair and it is true that new sockets aren't very good...

So I have an update. I swapped the front drums with a pair of freshly turned drums that measure 12.050". I pulled the master cylinder and bench bled it. After I reinstalled the MC I bled the...

Re: 1940 brake issue....

I pulled the front drums off last night. The shoes are basically new as well as the wheel cylinders but the drums have some grooves. The shoes dont appear to have been "arched" to match the drums...

Re: 1940 brake issue....

Sorry for the late response. I've driven the car a couple days and although the brakes are better, they still aren't great until I pump them 1 time.
I put the car on the lift last night and went...

Re: 1940 brake issue....

I just got done adjusting the brakes and although the rears seemed pretty close, the fronts were quite a bit off. I had to turn each adjuster almost 1/3 rotation before the drug slightly. I will...

Re: 1940 brake issue....

That is an excellent point. I'll check them tonight. Is there a recommendation for brake adjustment or do you just set them so they just don't drag? Thanks for the suggestion.

1940 brake issue....

My 1940 Tudor is a blast to drive, but the brakes are driving me crazy. The brakes are great....as long as you pump the pedal 1 time. The first press of the pedal is soft, but the second and every...

I'm restoring my 1934 commercial headlights and have a problem. The spring clip on one of the main bulb sockets popped off and I can not get it reattached. The fiber board in the socket is old...

8BA flathead (standard bore/standard bearings)

I've got a flathead Ford engine that is taking up space and I'd like to sell. It is an 8BA block (I think....doesn't have the "usual" markings) and is in VERY good shape. The pistons are STD and I...

30-31 roadster

I'd like to find a 1930 or 31 roadster to work on. I'm hoping to find a mostly complete car that doesn't run. My budget isn't huge so I know I can't afford a restored car, but I hoping I can find a...

Re: 8 volt battery question

Ok that makes sense.

So let's ASSUME that everything is fine but my old 6v battery is wore out. Can someone tell me why I shouldn't install an 8v battery? Or why anyone wouldn't install an 8v...

Re: 8 volt battery question

I understand the benefits of converting to 12v, but I'm dead set on running an old 6v Echlin beehive coil so I'm stuck. I haven't had an issue with the 6v system other than it cranks slow when it's...

Re: 8 volt battery question

I completely understand. I've heard of the 8v battery trick before so this winter I started researching it. From what I've found online as well as talking to the local guys it seems like there is...

My 31 has difficulty starting when it gets cold so I started looking around to see if there is anything I can do. I still run the 6v system, but I have upgraded to a Pertronix in a vintage Mallory...
