Guess I didn’t get it, so w Ford / Lockheed’s on front & rear w MC u need a dual stage MC w same bore as. ‘40-‘48 single stage.

Looks like a neat little package if I can get it to fit. The strok concerns me. If much longer than the ‘48 MC will b tough.

Steve, I think u mean where is the PCV valve on mine? No flatheads have PCV valves unless u convert crankcase draft tube to a PCV system. I set my 8BA up using vac port under carb to PCV initially...

More to the story! As I had engine apart w heads off I descovered an issue w the Offy heads & a common issue of spark plug reach. Thinking it caused detonation issues that created the piston issues....

J & 51Merc-CT, here’s what I’m understanding. I’ll plan to install the spin on filter base w unfiltered oil coming from upper oil pressure port as is w no mod & use existing npt threaded hole....

J u got way more experience than me. Assuming 95% must b good if unlike? I think that pulls oil to filter from top rear oil port where normally oil pressure transducer goes then how’s it get back...

Got my 8BA apart for other reasons some might know about, thinking I might as well put an oil filter set up while apart. What’s best & How to? Oil pan off heads off, block in indexing stand.

Reporting back. Removed piston #2, piston cracked between 2 top ring grooves. Rings had no damage. Sides of piston rubbing also one side of top edge.aluminum piston marked cyl but No damage to cyl....

Frank nailed it in post #15, broken piston, no broken rings. Makes more sense as Frank said. Once piston removed could see crack between top 2 ring grooves. Piston skirts & top of one side dragging...
