Re: Rotella T4 oil, dirty oil
No and I don't think it is necessary at least with a K&N. My plugs look good never fowl and I have never cleaned them.

Re: Rotella T4 oil, dirty oil
I use Rotella 15-40 and change it at about 500 miles. I have a K&N air filter but no oil filter. At 500 miles my oil is a little dark but no way black. If I put a drop on my finger I can still see my...

Re: 1930 Pitman Arm
It seems to me that with the shorter pitman arm you would have to turn the wheel further for the same result. It may turn easier but you have to turn the wheel further,

Re: Gear ratio
All good advice above. Just to give you some figures.
A standard 3.78 rear at 2000 RPM = 46 MPH
A 3.78 rear with a 26% Mitchell OD at 2000 RPM = 58 MPH
A 3.54 with no OD at 2000 RPM = 49 MPH
A...

Re: Analyze this . . .
The fact that MMO helped smooth things out leads me to believe part of your trouble is sticking valves. You are running too rich also. Do you have an air cleaner on there especially a paper one?

Re: FS ignition timing
A stock A system doesn't need more than 30* advance in my opinion unless maybe you are turning it 2500 RPM. I think your FS is set for 28* total advance. You might put a timing light on it and see...

Re: Cold Weather Operation
I have a waffle manifold and a manifold heater. Even when the temp is in the teens I have to drive with the window open a little or it gets too hot inside. I have a 160* thermostat. No problem...

Re: Spark Plugs
Not worth it in my opinion. Spark is spark from a plug all other things being equal. If you are building for fine point then you need the expensive 3X plugs.

Re: Radial Tires 16 inch Kelsey Hayes
I run those 195/80-16 on my 28 Tudor. I wanted to get the tallest tire I could both for looks and gearing. They are a little shorter than the 21 inch wheels I had but not too bad a compromise. I...

Re: Steering Wobble
Did you check your toe in and caster. Toe in should be about 1/16 inch and caster I believe about 5 degrees.

Re: Champion 3xs or other plugs?
That listing came from The Ford Garage web site as Y-Blockhead listed. There are other plugs shown on the website. I’m sure you can list it for your new letter. Maybe just mention the website.

How long did you let them drain. In cool weather it takes a long time for all the oil to drain out.

Re: Roadster getting harder to start
Since it only does it when it is cold I would suspect the choke plate is not closing properly. If you crank it for a bit with the choke on do you get gas at the carb throat?

Re: Failing gas tank sealant
It depends on how much is flaking off the tank. That screen is about 2 inches tall so if an inch and a half is covered it would still probably flow enough fuel to keep you going. You can see the...
