Fuel pump rod lift
I have a 59AB 1946 engine
I have tried four different fuel pumps(with glass bowl and pump with out), flex hose and fuel pump rods with no luck. I have added 3/16" thick leather shim between pump...

I did run compression check.
#1was 120#
#2 was 130#
#3 was 125#
#4 did not check due to hard to get gauge straight
#5 was 120 #
#6 was 120 #
#7 was 110#
#8 was 120#

Engine has only about 3K miles on new rebuild so should not have any varnish on valves stems. Feel it may have gotten too HOT and galled valve stems in split guides. I did add quart of M. Mystery oil...

Whew... that was a lot for some how only reads the amount of watts it takes to burn my fingers while twisting two wire together.

hot wire from ignition switch goes to + primary side of coil
- neg side off coil goes to distributor.

Hot coil
Question::confused:
I have a 8BA engine with 12V can coil.
Stock single point dist.
After about 56-60 miles the coil get so hot it start mis fire losses power and then just stops and wont start...

rear end ratio
please advise the available rear end ratios for 1949 thru 1953 Ford, Mercury, Lincolns.
Also # pinion teeth and ring gear teeth for each ratio.

97 leaks
Question: I have a 97 carb that the two brass plugs at bowl base drip gas. I have installed new gaskets from rebuild kit still leaks. suggestion's for cure? Thanks

rear main seals
How many rear main seals are found in flatheads.
1937-40 rope top and bottom in block & lower main cap.
41 one rope with pot metal block side
46-48 two pot metal no rope (labyrinth)
49-53 one...
