DougE, the oiling problems with upper end oiling was more than just with the quality of oil. there were inherent Y block design issues that caused rocker arm shafts to suffer from lack of oil...

on all the cars i converted to 12 V i used one of these Ron Francis solid state voltage reducers. on one 1950 car i ran the gauges and the hearer fan on the reducer with no problems. had too many...

i just installed the Randy Gross F-100 box in my 1930 model A and all i can say is it was bolt in and easy and what a driver it became... i would recommend his work to anyone wanting to install...
