Re: Can 12V horn from '50s' be adapted for 6V system?

Read my post #9. What you are suggesting with a rheostat will only drop the voltage. He needs the voltage stepped up. Read the original question please. Regards, Kevin.

Re: Can 12V horn from '50s' be adapted for 6V system?

He wants to use a 12 volt horn on a six volt system. Placing a resister in line will only make the situation worse. The best way out is really to get a six volt horn. Regards, Kevin.

Re: Ford Rear Brake Drum repair

You should also have a close inspection of the female taper inside the hub to make sure it is not worn. It must fit the axle taper precisely. Also measure across the drum braking surface to make...

Re: Starter Locking Up

This sort of symptom can happen if your battery is weak and only able to rotate the starter enough to engage the ring gear but not enough power to rotate or crank the engine. Have your battery LOAD...

Re: 6V vs 12V Starter Solenoid

The voltage coil inside a 6 volt solenoid is designed to operate on 6 volts but will operate on 12 volts but will draw twice the current (amps) which is not good. This could eventually be the demise...

Re: Stp.

STP will not stop the leaks in an early ford steering box, but might slow it down a little. John Deer corn head grease will fix most of it but there is no substitute for repairing the box properly. ...

Re: Looking for help with Generator and Regulator in the San Fernando Valley

All you need to do initially is test the voltage across the battery or at the battery terminal of the voltage regulator. The engine needs to be running at quite a bit above idle speed to read the...

Re: Stromberg 97

A vacuum leak in the intake manifold somewhere. Too much air getting in and a lean mixture is the result. Thats why you have to choke it. Use a vacuum gauge to check this or spray around the intake...

Re: Hood ornament

I would really like some proof that in 1936 that Ford motor company offered a greyhound mascot. It would not be a radiator cap as the 36 cap is under the hood. I have never ever seen an actual 1935...

Re: 48-50 F1 headlight switch glass fuse help 6v

The fuse on your aftermarket switch would only power all of your lights so as long as all your lights are all factory original specs then a 20 amp fuse would be OK. If any bulbs are higher wattage...
